Hey, I've got a problem, I've recently got these parts:

PSU:500W
MOBO: ASUS P8h61 usb-300
RAM: 1 x 8GB
CPU: i3-2100

I hear no POST Beep, no video

Why is this?

Does it actually turn on fine? Or totally dead? Couldn't work it out from your post

I replaced a few things recently and now I don't get any beeps on startup when I used to get one :S

Basically it turns properly I hear the fans kicking in the CPU fans work there's a green light on the motherboard. I put in the VGA cable and it recognizes it but doesn't produce anything on the screen.

You got a graphics card? If so is it plugged into the graphics card and not the onboard one?

Of have you got another cable you could try? Hdmi or dvi etc?

Might want to try resetting the bios by taking out the on board battery & changing jumper pins etc. More detailed info should be in your motherboard instruction book.

PS. Do you have a graphics card?

Double check the memory is in the correct slot, some boards can be fussy which slots are used, going back on the Power connection to the board, is the 4 pin or 8 pin installed on the motherboard.

Yes but im trying to fix the onboard graphics, so im not using the graphcis card

I am curious to why you brought 1x8gb stick of RAM in the first place?, surely it cost more than a 2x4gb kit.

Anyways, I have not encountered that problem before however if this is the case do you have access to some more DDR3 ram ie. from a friends computer just to pass the initial setup?

Although personally I would return the 8gb stick back to your retailer and buy a 2x4gb kit as you can make use of dual channel this way.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, turns out it was the rams. I'd suggest you take out the rams and try each ram out at a time on the same slot and turn your p.c on.

Thanks the problem was the RAM. Will get a 2x4gb ram kit. The 1x8gb was a gift from someone.
