Hi all,

As in the title, i am thinking about jailbreaking my ipod touch, done it in the past and i loved it, but i am now quite nervous! dunno why.

If it goes wrong, is it easy to restore it? is it as simple as putting into DFU and clicking Restore?

Also, i dont want to start fiddling with all the system files, not just yet anyway! So, is Winterboard that bad? When does it start to get laggy? i used to have loads of themes etc... and it seemed fine tbh! Is it better to keep all the themes etc... to a minimum?

Last one, do i use Winterboard for putting more add-on's into the Notification Centre?

Thanks in advance,
Cam

1. Dont be nervous. The software does it all for you.
2. If it goes wrong you just restore in iTunes. Ive done it a few times when i was a n00b!
3. Winterboard isn't too bad- just keep the amount down to a minimum and dont load it too much.
4. No, you use cydia tweaks.

Just to add some more info, Im pretty sure its impossible, or I have never seen a case of someone completely bricking their phone from jailbreaking it. It can go wrong, sure, But as you say, You can just put it into DFU mode and restore it.

Also, Certain themes result in a more laggy phone than others, Just be moderate with them and test them out. If you dont like them, Just remove them, Simples.

Awesome, I will see how I feel when I wake up, I may have a jail broken iPod in the evening! I will use greenp0ison and I am guessing the 3G has the a4 chip?

What firmware is it on? you probably want to look at Absinthe if you're on 5.0 or 5.0.1

Although 5.1 is "supposedly" dropping this weekend

My friend jail broke his new phone iPhone 4S and its amazing! I dont know why they dont just have all those settings on iPhone and iPods anyway! Makes them so much better!

i've jailbroken my Ip4, ipad an old ipod touch all without issue. I recently tried to do my wifes ipod touch (which she bought secondhand) and it just will not go. I think whoever she bought it off must have changed the battery to a non-genuine one - i've heard his can stop the JB process?

I'd do it - its a doddle.

Never heard of replacing the battery affecting the jailbreak.

The only issue I've run into with the jailbraking process is, I recently tried to jailbreak my other halves 4S, it worked fine, but now the iPod app does't have any sound (no its not muted) so I had to restore it, now Absinthe has been updated I'm going to give it another go

whats the best way to do it? what software?

I want to leave my stuff on there, cba with restoring, i have a back-up of my ipod tho :)

I might use greenp0ison, i used it before and it was fine, and i didn't have to wipe it :)

Jailbreaking tomorrow, any tips on software to use? I want untethered and I am on ios 5.0.1, plus its an A4 device, I'm not sure the greenp0ison software does it, but I know redsn0w does.

Any tips please?
