How about a Z68 board such as the gigabyte on offer, it has a HDMI output to connect to that monitor.

Casual gaming, the HD3000 should suffice, DVI connection is more than adequate. what would the advantages be with HDMI?

Well you get sound from HDMI so you can use the screens two little speakers if she doesnt have any.

The main benefit is you are getting a better motherboard for less £$££ if you get a Z68 board.

Or that Intel H67 board has DVI/HDMI etc for a cheap price.

You mention the HD3000 graphics, the i3 uses HD2000 graphics.

Get the z68ap-d3 mobo as it's pretty much the same price as the h61, yet it will allow for a 2500/2600/2700 upgrade in the future (Maybe a year or two if she needs some more processing power).

Will you be using the SSD as the Operating system drive and have a mechanical drive for storage, or the just the SSD for both.

SSD for OS and main apps, have to educate her on using another drive for storage and installing anything

Machine all done, very pleased with the results, ended up getting the asus 24" VE screen and an i3 2125 cpu instead. For the price you can't grumble at the performance.
