Hi guys,

I've always liked the Dell monitors, since I had a 17" UltraSharp many moons ago, and I'm looking for a new 24" monitor (I currently have a Samsung 22" TN panel)

I liked the look of the U2410 since it was £450 but at the current OCUK price of £342 is this the best quality monitor (screen & external build) that I can get for this money?

I mainly do desktop work, web etc.. but I do occasionally game, but nothing more taxing than Track Mania or Football Manager!

Also, as an aside, for those of you that have gone from 22" to 24", was it a noticeable difference and worth it?

Thanks :D

Dell do have a great warranty service if the monitor fails within the cover period.

I will also say more screen space is always a good thing. :D

Yea, for that price and requirement for a HDMI connection (and 1:1 pixel mapping for running a 1080p console without stretching the image) the Dell U2410 is probably the best option.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help.

Last question, do you guys think I'll notice a difference between my current 22" Sammy TN screen and the Dell U2410?

Good choice.

I bought this a few months ago - great monitor. Next to my Hyndai 24", which is a good screen, there is a big difference.

I did not realise the prices had dropped so much - I might order a second. Although the U3011 looks tempting.

When the u24 launched there was a massive thread about issues at that time i recall with people unhappy about something. What was the issue and was this resolved in a later build?
I recall lots of unhappy people, or am i mixing it up with something else entirely.

Most probably the infamous 'green and pink' tinting that was visible. This wasn't something that affected all units and became less and less common with later revisions. There was a 'relatively minor' panel defect that would cause the issue that was most pronounced when viewing large areas of white. The WCG-CCFL backlight did exacerbate the issue, though, so it was quite noticeable and hence why it was commonly complained about.

I have the U2711 and think its a fantastic panel, pictures quality is awesome. The main gripe I have with it is with that high resolution the anti glare is very noticeable, sometimes I don't notice it at all, others the screen almost seems to be sparkling.

I would be interested to hear what the 24" version is like for AG. I think I will wait until mine is out of warranty then remove the AG to have a gloss screen.

I don't mind the AG to be honest - next to my Hyundai the Dell is better to look at.

Do you have any problems with text size on the U2711? I read complaints about the text being too small due to the small DPI ?

Hi, I'm considering the U2410 and have a few questions to owners.
It's a 1920x1200 resolution monitor so I'm assuming if I use a PS3 with it games/blu-rays will be stretched?
I'm either going to get this or a 120Hz monitor. Is 120Hz too big to ignore for PC gaming?
I've also noticed this monitor is a few years old. Is there anything better coming out this year?
I'm currently using an old Samsung 2032BW so I'm sure anything will look better than what I'm using now. Thanks in advance.

1) No, the monitor has a 1:1 pixel mapping option so you can just choose to have black bars instead of a stretched image.
2) Really seems to differ on a person by person base. Some act like they have joined cult and don't look back declaring everyone that doesn't agree with them as clinically insane. Then there are people that have returned 120Hz screens because they didn't find it worth the costs or didn't even notice a difference at all.
3) My crystal ball is at the repair shop. I only know that LG is coming out with a new line of 3D IPS screens sometime soon. The u2412m is a lot cheaper but lacks the 1:1 pixel mapping option.
4) Yes, any IPS will be a major upgrade to a Samsung 2xxxBW (I know, I have both a 206bw and 2443bw ;))

Hi guys, I'm looking at getting the U2412M because I'm wanting the following
-1920 x 1200p res
- IPS
- LED
- HDMI

But I'm noticing it doesn't have a HDMI. Would that matter? I have blu-ray drives so when it comes to a monitor I want one good for gaming and good for blu-ray movie playback but it's hard to decide which monitor when none seem to have all the above. Do you think I should get the U2412M anyway and it'll be fine for blu-ray playback or is really better with HDMI cables and I should be looking elsewhere?

Get a HDMI to DVI cable ;)
