Hi,

I have a colleague who seems to be doing no work and just spending time watching videos. Now i am not sure if i should say something to my manager or not? i have become friends with my colleague and dont want her to get into trouble?

what would you do?

Is her not doing work affecting your ability to work? Maybe talk to her first rather than someone higher up if she is your friend.

It depends really, how close a friend is she?

I've been in similar situations with people at work, once I knew they were having issues due to a divorce so I pulled the extra weight for a couple of months until he was on his feet.

The second situation consisted of a woman who I got on with but spent 30% of every day selling illegal tobacco, alcohol and pirated DVDs from her car while we were sweating our nuts off covering her work load. After 3 months I not only informed the manager I fired an email off to Customs and reported her.

It really depends on the reason she is slacking and whether you give enough of a damn to find out why or you just want to get it sorted.
