splitscreen multiplayer - easily possible. all up to the developer to implement it

O and let me toss this in your face.

The Wii-U is practically tablet console device :)

I attempted to post a reply to this but it's just not worth the effort.

You're talking testicles.

You keep mentioning developers. And I'm glad you do. I cant see mainstream Devs supporting gaming on Tablets regardless of what it has under the hood.

Yeah we'll see gimmicky stuff, emulated stuff. But gaming support to the same standard as a console? Not a chance hell.

So the GPU under the hood, not really all that important, and probably half the reason they dont bother with anything overly powerful.

Oh and just to "throw this in your face" Could you imagine the battery drain on a tablet running a high spec GPU.
Oh I can play Crysis 5 on my tablet!!! :D:D For all of 5 minutes before I have to plug it in.

If there is a demand for games on tablets, devs will support it like they already do. many console games are getting ported across tablets and even mobile phones. i can play pro evolution soccer 2012 on my 2 year old HTC Desire in PS2ish/PSP graphics. quite impressive for a 2 year old android device.

Have you played any of the high quality Iphone games? Some are running the Unrea engine 3. same exact engine that runs many xbox 360 games.

here is a video showing JUST how powerful tablet/mobile specs are and the type of games/eye candy that can easily rival some current xbox 360 games

O and i will throw this at you:

Someone has invented a way where you can run your tablet device off the mains:eek::eek: wow that is innovation right there!:D

Sorry but that sentence is spectacular, as it tied this thread up into a nice neat little bow :D:p

As for the other stuff you posted. Youtube videos, etc. I've played the best of whats available on most platforms. Android, Iphone and HTC. And generally the good looking games are devoid of content. And the expansive games, are generally somewhat lacking graphically. They always have to compensate somewhere, and pick and choose whether to be pretty, or big.

anyways, I get a feeling this is just going to get more and more ridiculous. So I'm out now. Got work in an hour anyways :(

Comparing an iPad 2 and the games available on it to a console is quite frankly laughable. I have an iPad 2, and none of the games that I've played on it are:

A. Enjoyable to play unless it's Angry Birds or Plants v Zombies where simple flicking and tapping the screen is the only required input and;

B. Graphically equal or anywhere near equal to the current generation of console.

To suggest otherwise is hilarious, and I wonder how an "Android Developer" can manage to develop at all when they don't even have a basic grasp of English. You must be off your head if you think that someone considering a console for gaming would instead run out to the shops and buy a Transformer, Galaxy Tab, iPad or whatever other tablet device you care to mention.

someone suggested 2 x 79xx series cards a few pages ago and ive only just wiped the tears of laughter away...
and that was roughly the same time someone also mentioned the need for 802.11ac

:D

What's with all the talk of tablets and phones now? They're really only a threat to handheld gaming devices like the 3DS and the Vita because of the casual nature of the games that are available on them. Doesn't matter how powerful tablets become, they aren't going to become a preferred gaming platform over an actual console and it's ridiculous to even suggest otherwise.

I think it maybe on the lines of a 6670-6770 purely because of power draw/cooling of console seem to be in the right realms.

Good to see some people have sense!

How did this thread turn into such a crapshoot?

My take on the possible GPU, Current consoles GPUs are punching out graphics that average joe is very happy with and so there is no need to go mental bleeding edge on the graphics. 4K isn't going to be popular enough until nearer the end of the next generation lifecycle so they only need to aim for 1080p60 as a maximum.

They also know that a console that has a lower launch price will sell more units faster so again there is an incentive there for them to not go balls out on tech like Sony did with the PS3 CPU.

Before slagging me off, Why not look at your own post. You are the one posting like a 5 year old child that barely know's you're ABC's.

Yet again no one here has commented on the fact that the WII-U is a glorified Tablet console.:o

I'd rather buy a £1K console than a £500 Ipad for games tbh.

I like being able to play "quality" games which in most cases on Blu Ray take up 20GB+ of space, try fitting that on a tablet.

I also like to play split screen with controllers with friends, talking about screens 42 inch+.

There is no way in hell the tablet market is even going to effect the console market at all.

The only thing which will effect the console market is when PC parts get so powerful and so cheap that you can buy a PC for £300 and play any high end game on it.

Seeing though that prices have been going up year on year for GPU's, i doubt this will happen anytime soon.

I do foresee a future where consoles are no more, but they will only ever be replaced by PC's which small yet extremely powerful.

I can see Microsoft moving in this direction first and possibly killing off Sony as they would be reluctant to do so.

But the above won't happy for at least another few generations so probably in 15 years time.

Sticking a touchscreen on a controller does not suddenly make it a tablet console.

1. It has dedicated controls, not just touchscreen crap
2. It will have actual games not just your average Android/iOS stuff
3. It's only one method of control, I believe standard controllers and wiimotes/nunchuks will still be used

if they go with those video specs i am sure ps4 would better them only slightly. i suppose the can't go any higer without increasing the cost of the console. who would want to buy a next xbox console £500? no way
