Need first gear for a 6 speed manual e60 gearbox

BMW helpfully only sell complete boxes and I need just a first gear. Anyone have any suggestions of people I can source parts from (new or used in good nick). It's an e61 523i with a manual 6 speed

Happy to buy a used box and strip what's needed (well not me but someone who knows what they are doing) and get rid of the rest

Do BMW make the boxes? can you source the manufacturer and buy a new one from them?

It's normally people like Quaife that sell just the gears these days. I don't think it's like the old days when you used to be able to just buy gears and layshafts etc from the manufacturer. I think your best bet is to get a second-hand box, but then for the hassle it will be, you might as well just get it reconditioned and swap it as a whole unit.

Try asking the transmission shop who would be repairing it to get the parts for you, after all that's.what they would normally do?

I have, they are on the case but so far no joy (thought a double pronged attack may be good)
