Well, I went and bought myself an Elysium to replace my annoying and somewhat crammed Antec 300.
Everything is in...when I realise that 1) my cables are short. REALLY short. so cable tidying went out of the window in place of getting Compy back together so I can use it and buy some new cables
2) My PSU cables are short. TOO damn short! Unfortunately, whereas buying new SATA cables is a doddle, I aught to be buying a whole new powerbox.
I'm looking at making a long-term investment as my current components aren't THAT power hungry. None the less I'm looking at pushing the 1000w mark so that any big upgrades within the next 2 years will be supported.
Problem being...I need a case with cables long enough to stretch around the Elysium.
Now...The issue - if I was using a BIGGER board it'd be easier! I've only got a diddy ATX Board M4A89GTD-Pro (I forget?:p) in the case at the moment, pair of 5770 VaporX (hopefully get an upgrade when the new ATI cards ship), Asus Xonar DX (requires floppy power connector)...
Plus 3 Sata drives (2tb, 160+160), 1 IDE(200), and a sata DVD burner.

Before we get into why I have all this junk (etc) in my rig, it's all there for a reason even if that reason isn't immediately obvious for anyone, me included.

On with the hunt! I need a 1000+ watt PSU (though would grudgingly go for a sub 1k if it was really handy with its cables and longevity).
I've been looking at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-151-AN&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1088 as it seems to be quite highly regarded by a review I read on BitTech, but PSU's are something I'm not *that* familiar with (rather, I've never had to be so specific in my requirements - normally I can just chuck in a 400w 650w whatever from a decent manufacturer in the knowledge that it's reliable).
What do people suggest?
Many thanks!

Instead of buying a new PSU, you could get some extensions like the bitfenix alchemy ones?

My personal favourite PSU's are the Silverstone ST1000G PSU's as every single cable is fully m,odular so you can easily replace them if you want longer ones.

RE the ATX mobo, you could watercool and put a lrage res to the side in order to fill the case up :p

DOH!

I must admit to being a total noob when it comes to customising stuff to that degree. I'm no stranger to destructive modding, but when it comes to simple stuff like cable extensions I'm lost.
I am tempted to watercool in future - I'm planning on going to uni this year as a mature student (time I got off my ass and did something with what I know). I will be getting some grants and whatnot as well as making some money beforehand elsewhere with the specific idea of taking a beast of a machine with me for work (rendering etc).
I currently only have a diddy 650w OCZ PSU, and I think its starting to get a little decrepit. Random crashes and things which I can't attribute to memory (MemTest x64 for nearly a day and a half, nothing, clean install on my totally stable 2tb drive etc).
I will definitely look into those cables in the interim though - I'd never realised that they existed (DUHH!), I was half expecting to have to make them myself...bit clueless at times, eh?
Stupid me...OCUK did those cables the whole time. I made the mistake of looking under "cables" instead of "case mods". Mug.
Thanks so much for the help people - I wasn't expecting such useful help so fast! I'll drop in some before/after shots once I'm done tidying the thing up. Might also move off the Elysium fan splitters (little PCB based ones) and back to my old Zalman fan controller so that I can turn the fans down when I need to get some sleep (Not that the case is loud, I've just been having sleeping troubles for the last year :)). Any thoughts or should I just stay with the PCB jobbies?

Hmm...not sure. Advantage of extension cables is that they're always useful for the future, even if you don't use them for a year or two. On the other hand, the extra headroom provided by a new PSU would be handy, but I run the risk of being short on cable length again (Because the Elysium IS a monster, made worse by my tiny ATX board).
I think I'll get the extensions for now, and if I can get a few more freelance money spinners in the next few months, splurge on a PSU. I did just get paid, but after dumping 400 in my savings to make up for xmas and paying my rent, this month is going to get tighter fast. :(

Consider the silverstone strider PSU's as mine can reach all the way around the TJ07 and TJ11. The 8 pin was problematic, but that's it

Will definitely consider those for future as I recall the TJ cases being rather large and cable length is rather important. Had a look inside my case and it turns out the cable issue wasn't quite as messy as I remember (was drunk when I finished, so fuzzy memory at best). Am getting a pair of the Alchemy black 6pin PCIE cables, 6 of the lovely cheapy 90cm OCUK sata cables, and an internal audio cable extension so that it stops tugging on the audio card.
Will dump some photos when its done if anyone's interested. Then you can laugh at my mostly-empty case :P
