Since there are no hard and fast details yet , how powerful do you think it will be ? what hardware will it pack , anyone got any inside info ?

Will you be getting one ?

I'm not sure how it could be too little too late, its Nintendos next generation console.

The only reason I would get one is if there were games that interested me. I have a Wii and it never ever gets used. I'm not a Mario Nintendo 1st party fan so they would need to get games on there that I care about that are not on the PS3/4.

So probably not.

I think this is good news for pc gamers, 2x the performance of the 360 so maybe developers will put some time into developing for it and we might get a slightly better port before 720 or ps4.

It's pretty unlikely it will have the userbase to make the big devs develop solely for it before PS4/Xbox Next.

Nope, Nintendo never fails.

Nintendo is basically what every other console manufacturer wants to be, but can't. They know exactly what they're doing and they do it bloody well.

Yes the ex-pc gamer may not be inclined to buy one. But I know when I was 6-11 I never wanted anything bar a SNES, PC gaming never interested me nearly as much.

They know they're market well, and IIRC the WII outsold both the PS3 and XBOX by a fair margain. It is also pretty uncommon to go into a household that doesn't own a Wii or a DS even. That can't be said for the Xbox, PS3, PSP etc. Nintendo will do well, they always do.

The n64 and the gamecube suggest that they are indeed fallable and the 3DS was selling so poorly that they had a drastic price cut which has stopped DS sales almost dead and has contributed to them wiping out 30% of their cash funds. Nothing is ever a certainty. Nothing.

i dont know, something tells me they arent going to have that runaway success this time around with the wiiU. being a new gimmick aimed at people who didnt normally game - thats why the wii sold, that and the promise of revolutionary game play forr those of us who already did game and owned other consoles.

This time around do you think they'll successfully pitch the wiiU to all those 'new' gamers who already own/owned a wii? it's going to have to be a lot more competitive with a much better selection of 3rd party games if they have any hope of replicating that success.

....And I'm just waiting to see how much those controllers cost.

If the wiiU does online gaming like the xbox then I am sold.

Please do not use friend codes....

If I can play the likes of cod on the wiiu with a mic and still get my mario and zelda fix then I might get one. A lot hangs on how they handle online.

They were still massively profitable during the N64 and Gamecube days and I'm pretty sure last/this year was the only time Nintendo have ever made a loss, where's Sony are bleeding money all over the place.

Thankfully this time it doesn't look like the Wii U will be hampered too much in the online department.

Wii U:

User accounts: Wii U will have individual user accounts, rather than one system-wide account.
NFC: Near Field Communication ("touch" data transmission from accessories, credit cards, etc... sort of like QR/Streetpass combined) will be built-in.
Online: Miyamoto: "Network has to have a totally new concept to be different."

Zelda and Mario in HD, once they are on the market the Wii U (or whatever they call if they decide to rename it) will sell bucket loads because that's what people want and have been waiting for.

ffs only 768mb of ram :(

its dirt cheap why not shove 4gigs in there and give devs some wiggle room

I don't think we need to see 4GB considering there's no massive OS footprint to compensate for. and the fact consoles are a different beast altogether. But I was expecting most consoles this gen to hit with 1GB. Also wiggle room generally results in sloppy coding. Ah why try and get a game optimised!! We have wiggle room now!

The 3DS is now selling massivly, don't know the exact figures though. But there is no doubt the 3DS is a success.

Did the N64 and GC really do that bad?

I was tempted untill i seen the pre order price on zavvi of £400!

Placeholder price...no price details have been released so retailers are putting something on there at the moment.

The Nintendo Network has been announced which will be Nintendo's internet component for the console, individual profiles, multiple profiles per consoles etc. So their own XBox Dashboard or PSN, they are setting up the proper reveal at E3.

Release has been confirmed as worldwide by end of 2012.

Iwata was quoted that they've learned lessons from the 3DS launch which means we should also see a strong launch line up/window.

I have a lot of faith after seeing some of the tech in videos etc.
