Need to put weight back on - Advice

No problem, do get it in powdered form, do not mess around with capsules as you want to be making a good half a teacups worth for you.

If there is a neals yard near where you live they will have it in stock. If not you can buy it from them online here.

It stopped me ripping out my stomach when I had an ulcer, and I still use it regularly for terribad heartburn.

The closest I can say it tastes like is walnuts, oh and ofc it does not come with any of the side effects that come along with gaviscon and the like.

You will get a feel for how much powder to warm water you need to use, and just wisk and wisk with a fork untill it goes all gloopy, a bit like the consistancy of hair gel, maybe a little bit thicker... if its watery you need more powder.

You will feel relief as soon as it hits your pooly bits mate :)

Edit: This is only to treat the symptom that is hoffifying pain. If you would like to attemp to cure the cause with herbal medicine there are other herbs one would take that encourage production of digestive enzymes needed to digest and assimilate food, shrink swollen tissue, control bleeding, address any infection and help heal the gut. Not only that but nervines will help with the stress commonly caused by these kinds of illnesses!

But for that you would have to seek out a trained, accredited herbalist. If you do have trouble finding one I can put you in touch with one. But, one step at a time, lets deal with that pain first :)

Double edit: To the MODS, I'm sorry if this is skirting too close to any of the medical thread rules, just trying to help. Let me know if so, and I will endeavor to use private communication.

While I have zero doubts that it will work just get the 50g one for now, so you can try it out.

Wait, stop, Ive just been mentally slapped on the wrists for suggesting neals yard, when it can be had for cheaper from woodland herbs. Ooops, old habit :)

less than half the price.

Edit: I'm not a herbalist btw, but my way better half is :p

He is, but yeah, the trouble with his condition is that with the damage he has, the errosion and ulcers, he just wont be utilising the food that he puts inside him anyway. Really need to get that sorted.

Your BMI is ~23 ATM which is excellent, I can only assume you used to carry more muscle mass (your target puts you slightly into the overweight band, which doesn't neccaselirly mean fat)

Don't worry is my main advice from your figures it doesn't appear to be a major problem.

Other than that try to stick to light excersice as adrenaline/endorphine inducing exercise can affect your appetite, ie you tend not to get hungry till the comedown and then you get excessively hungry, not great as you weakened stomach may not be able to handle your bodies eratic demands.

Walking / light swimming tend to stimulate the appetite, other than that treat yourself to foods you enjoy, your more likely to eat them.

Mostly though Don't worry , your body will find it's own balance again given time though this may mean your a little lighter than you used to be, given your BMI I don't really see this as a problem

I'm sure everyone here has good intentions Neil79, but I think this guy is correct really. Also, no medical threads! :p

See a doctor/dietician rather than an internet forum.

And I haven't been doing that for the last two years?

Doctors are a bunch of useless **** who would rather pump you full of medication and send you on your way :o.

Spot on!, you've given me far more useful advice than some highly payed doctor who thinks pantoprazole solves everything

13 Stone would put you at a BMI of 26. E.g. Overweight. Even if BMI is a rather crude measurement there's no way you should be 13 stone. 9-12 stone is where you should be aiming for...

Also, cut down the exercise, and just eat more.... You must already be eating something, so just increase the portion size. I'd say also switch stuff to full fat if you can.

Don't cut down on exercise.

Eat more, but eat healthy. Pasta, rice, veg and fruit. Beleive it or not, fruit and veg is loaded in carbs and will help you load on weight.

Don't go all out with whey mixes etc. But research into one, free of added extras etc if you are not going to the gym often. I am sure there is similar on myprotien.com that could be worth a look.

Also ask in the Sports section, or if FF doesn't mind send him a trust. Is nutrition is bloody excellent. But don't aim to gain weight over night, take it slow IMO anyway.

Dont get me started on western medical professionals. I'm not anti them, not at all, it's just, bah, half the time they dont even really tell you what is actually happening, dont treat you from a holistic point of view and only give out pharmacuticals.

Why, for example (not the one you mentioned), give someone an Antiemetic like prochlorperazine when you could first try a cup of ginger tea? A good example there of something that does some serious shizz to the body to achieve the same effect a simple hot water infusion of ginger could deliver for next to nothing with zero side effects... and thats simple herbalism, it can get waaaaay more in depth.

Anyway, I digress, and got started :P I just wish they could meet in the middle sometimes. For the better of patients, after all thats the point, isn't it?

Cut out the tea and coffe and replace with as much chamomile tea as you like, the former isn't great on nerve endings and the latter strenghens them. An example of a simple nervine herb right there that you could do some research on btw.

I almost wish I had the OPs problem. I've always gained weight rediculously easy and as a result have always been on the chubby side. Right now I'm way more than chubby. Probably would be considered obese :(

I want to join a local gym to try and lose weight, but I'm actually almost afraid to go. Hate the idea of being told I'm too fat to use their machines or something like that :(

You really dont, it is agonising. All you need to do is put a little less into your body than it needs and do more excersice that makes you sweat hard. :)

Take a look at the low carb diets that are out there. Most people I know who are trying to lose weight are able to follow these better than other diets.

Don't be scared of going to the gym because of your weight, it's what it's there for. See how much it is to get a personal trainer who can help you both with your diet and with excericse. You'll feel a lot better about your lifestyle within a month, guaranteed.

Become a trucker!

Irregular sleep pattern, irregular eating pattern, crap food when you do eat, sat on your arse all day whilst the truck drives for you, beer & takeaways at night.........

You'll be like the Michelin man in no time! :p

I'd imagine peanut butter and scrambled eggs would be good. Both easy to eat and "smooth" but full of good quality fats and protein.

At 5'9" I don't know why you'd aim for 13st though, being 11 and a half is plenty unless you're very big boned or aiming to be very muscular, in which case you'd naturally need to train at the gym. At the same height myself if I was 13st I'd either be very muscular or downright fat, depending how it was gained :p

EDIT: I'm planning on cooking these soon, as a slightly healthier option to my usual breakfast flapjacks made with butter. Perhaps they'd suit you, dunno, may well be too hard. http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/6203/crispy-peanut-butter-and-sultana-flapjacks.aspx

What? 13 stone isnt right for 5'8 / 5'9.

I'm 5'8.5 exactly, and 75 KG / 11.8 St is a BMI of 25, and at that I still have a big gut and should really be 65 kg again :(

Unless you have much heavier bones than I do.

I'm managing to keep my weight at 72 KG / 24 BMI after losing a bit, but cant seem to drop it any lower without doing crazy man dieting.

being 11 and a half is plenty

More than plenty for me and I still have a load of fat :(

Actually I'm not too fat anymore, 33" waist. About a year ago I swelled up to 38" :D

OMG my hips are down from 42" to 35"!!!! Just 3 more inches to lose on both the waist and hips and I can fit into all my clothes again :D

I'm just exercising twice a week and eating much less Pizza, simples :)
