Hey,

I live in a rented flat with one of my mates would we need a TV licence each or would one cover the entire flat?

Sorry for the really stupid Q I just couldn't see anything clear on the TV licence site.

Ta,

Where is / are the TV's and where are the locking doors?

If it's a regular flat (lock on the single front door) then you need 1 licence for the flat.

If you have a lock on each room and have a TV inside that room, you need a separate license for each locked room that has a TV and I believe another license if there is a TV in a communal area.

I personally reckon that it would depend purely on the rental agreement not locking arrangements (per se) by that logic I'd need four licenses for my flat :p

If you all have seperate rental agreements then you might have to all get seperate licenses but I would be amazed if anyone

a) actively investigated such scenarios
b) cared

:D

We are on the same contract for rental. Just wondered as my flatmate sorted the licence and got it emailed to him but we had a letter in the mid Jan saying how to avoid a court summons etc.

What so we need 6 licenses for our house because we have locks on the bedroom doors? Hah :D
