Below 600M perhaps but up to 1k and beyond the bullet drop isnt even close to half way almost realistic. At least you dont have to adjust your scope and do pythagoras on the distance + change in elevation. Or change for windage.... Thats what makes ArmA2 kills so satisfactory at 1km+
 
Snipers can be hit and miss. Most are just lonewolf camping for kills. A rare few (such as those on TS on the OcUK server) will contribute to the team. Overwatching an advance. Placing a soflam or spawn beacon etc.

Yep, arma2 and the older novalogic games have some very detailed sniping features, scope dialling, windage and elevation. I managed a few 1.5km shots in joint ops. There was even a mod for bf2, (scoutys sniper mod), not as detailed as arma/jo, but a good game for very long shots. In reality, a 1km shot is fairly standard theese days, due to modern scopes, better rifles and new calibres. .338 lapua magnum and .408 cheytac are outranging the older rounds such as .50bmg a lot now.

err.. when i do snipe i do the same, spotting enemy and beacons to reinforce. I saw snipers that camp, they dont live long, i end up knifing them, probably explains why i have 498 knife kills :D
 
LOL!

This sniper used the mav to get to the top of a building as I watched him with my mav, but he ended up as a mav kill. Flew my mav straight into his face

I'm all for anything that makes it harder

Even with the current delay of bolt action snipers, the OTT bullet drop and no I hit kills we still get people complaining
 
I keep seeing people say that head shots aren't all 1 hit kills? I remember in bf2 that a pistol shot was not a 1 hit kill to the head but surely the assault rifles and alike are?

They've disabled the ability now however and EA support just add bf2 status to your veteran account

Put any snipers in the front line, they're minced meat. All snipers care about is k/d.

The vast majority are snipers. Especially on a camp fest maps such as karand where its heaven for snipers.

All of the bolt action snipers are 2 hit kills to anywhere but the head. Even the top of the range M98b is only 95 damage to the chest. All of the bolt actions need a headshot to I hit kill.

And the ones that "fire off bullets like a machine gun" are the semi auto snipers which can't even kill in 1 shot, even to the head and only do about 30 damage to the chest at range

Have you actually ***No swearing, disguised or not!*** read what you just wrote? You talk about snipers not being overpowered yet you claim an M98b "ONLY" does 95 dmg to the chest. I don't get 95 dmg with my g36c if I shoot the guy in the head ffs.

Also most players don't have 100% hp anyway, so that 1 shot to the chest with an m98b is an instant kill. And that's a shot to the chest.....

And even if they do have 100% health, a 95 dmg hit almost guarantees you an assist at least because sooner of later some one else will do the other 5% dmg, especially if the guy is in a middle of a battle.

I honestly dont know how can u defend this ****. "only does 95 dmg out of a 100 to the chest". Sure sounds like a balanced weapon. Give my g36c that damage ability and I own the whole damn battlefield blindfolded.
 
Probably been asked before at some point, but I like the black uniform and 'non-camo' one's. What level are these available at? Or are these special to people who pre-ordered this game?
 
The black camo is the Special Forces camo unlocked at something like level 42. The others get unlocked along the way, although I think there were a few which were pre-order bonuses.
 
how do i join these servers. cant find most when i do a search.

what is the best ones for a new player.
