Hi Guys,

No one will probly remember the situation I got myself into 9 months ago in getting myself fired for a long term job... Needless to say I got into a slightly depressive spiral afterward!..

Anyhew, 6 months ago I got myself a new job which I love, albeit a 75 mile commute from Swindon to Uxbridge each day!, and a £7grand pay drop..

I had a 'mini' review in November which my Boss said he was very happy with my progress etc.. and scored me 100% (which is a first for me!!)

Then Just before Christmas My boss asked if I'd like to work from home for 2 days a week to save Petrol/Wear and tear on my car and make it that I wasn't soo tired by the end of the week! They even supplied a 22" monitor for my home computer so I can dual screen etc..

This week is my 6 month probation review (on Wednesday), and I'm bricking it!! :(

My Nervous stomach has returned with a vengeance, I can't sleep etc...

Everyone keeps telling me to stop worrying as they'd have said summut waaaay before today if there was a problem, and the bending over backward to help me (working from home etc..) is proof I'm gonna be okay!!..

But the 'Little Voices' keep niggling me and telling me otherwise!! :(

Am I just being Pessimistic?, or shall I just stop worrying and cheer up??!?!?..

Cheers
Sim. :(

Well,

Just keep up the good work (from what you have said) - no amount of worrying will change anything - so as long as you are giving it the same effort as before then you may as well try not to think about it.

You should hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

But from what you have said, it sounds like it's in the bag.

I don’t think that your company would be investing in some homeworking for you if the boot was coming. Unless you’ve not told us everything, I wouldn’t waste my time worrying and would be looking forward to the review and a bright future. :)

Is this your final review?

Sounds like you need something to relax you. Here, try this... :p

Joking aside, you do need something to take your mind off it by the sound of it. Exercise, meditation, maybe a drink?

Unless something's gone drastically wrong since November, I wouldn't worry about it. As others have said, they certainly wouldn't be trying to make your life easier with investing in the kit for home working etc if they wanted rid of you.

Sounds fine to me mate, just try to be confident (which I understand will be difficult given the tough time you've had).

What on earth are you worried about?

Unless there's something you aren't telling us, you'll walk it.

Agreed - unless you're missing out parts of the story, I don't see why they'd provide you another screen and so on just to kick you to the curb.

See my post. The human mind isn't always as rational and logical as you'd think. It could well be that his previous experiences are colouring an otherwise benign experience.

Little. Yellow. Different!

But in all seriousness dude, i wouldn't sweat it, you got 100% on your last 'Mini' review, and your Boss has entrusted you to work from home 2 days a week, which means you are more than capable of performing your office duties from outside the office.

If you were not, i doubt they would give you the option to work from home.

Chin up, march in there and ask for a 50% payrise :)

Nowt wrong with a few nerves to keep you on the edge but you are taking it to far. I can confidently say you having Nothing to worry about going by what you have already posted.
I'll wish you Good Luck as well so that you remember me when you get a Pay rise. :D

Sounds like you got a bit of a confidence knock when you got fired from your last job. And now you feel you are in the hot seat again, you are worrying a bit (which is normal). This time it's totally different and from what you have said in the OP you are doing pretty well in this new job. Just knuckle down and work hard and don't worry. Just like from one of the posts above, your boss is investing for you to work from home for your personal convenience. Unless you have been slacking or done something majorly wrong, you should have nothing to worry about :p.

i think its just nerves because you are not sure.. i was like you.. when my probation period was about to end but everything was fine.

What work do you do btw? i would love to work from home.. and sounds like you do IT work, which is right up my alley :p

PS> stop worrying and GOOD luck.. if you were slacking they wouldnt have let you work from home.

I Love You Guys!! :D (and I'm not joking!!) I do suffer from a very low self asteem and have no confidence in myself or anything I do!.. I've had a nasty time of it over the last 10 years (most of which is documented on here!! :p )

I'll try and keep my chin up!, I don't drink so that's out as a calming route, but I might try Meditation or summut!!

Thanks to you all (I was expecting to get basted by most of you!! :D )... Thanks LordSplodge I'll have a read of that :)

...What work do you do btw? i would love to work from home.. and sounds like you do IT work, which is right up my alley :p

I'm a CAD Draughtsman for an Electronics Company!..

If you have worked well, have some pride in yourself, you seem oddly insecure, given what you've said in your post prior to the last section where you are clearly insecure about something or other!

Good luck - you'll be fine.

If you have trouble with worrying, then make sure you are getting enough sleep and giving your brain enough "downtime" in general. It will help with the anxiety. Work out how much sleep you really require each night to feel relaxed the next day, then stick strictly to the same bed time and wake time. It will help you feel more in control.

Rgds

If your manager is half decent you have nothing to worry about. There should be no surprises for either side in a review. If there was a problem, something would have already been mentioned - they certainly wouldn't have allowed you the freedom to work from home if they had concerns!
