*** Official OcUK Minecraft Server - Discussion and Rules ***

The site my be unstable for a bit whilst I try to get some php changes made. This shouldn't have any knock-on effect on the Minecraft server.

The is still plenty of space about and from what Sylvet/ToString said before 1.2 is bring new biomes but chunks won't be able to load in the current map? With that maybe the admins can claim a big chunk of this new expansion for copying jungle biomes etc, it could become the new unstable land etc

There seems to be some confusion, my explanation here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=21131278&postcount=7175

1. There is plenty of space on the current map.
2. When 1.2 arrives, extending the borders will not give 1.2 biomes/terrain.
3. Transplanting 1.2 will most likely result in mismatched biome/terrain and no ocelots.

If I get time later I'll generate some renders that show what would happen.

Ah that is what I was trying to say :) I'm sure you mentioned about the new biomes not being generated with out current map so the only way to get them would be to copy them via world edit or create artificial ones. Both with Pros/Cons.

Is it possible I can have all my chests from 1.7 world? Not bothered about buildings was too hard to sort coords.

If you have a sponge to trade I'm sure one of the Admins will be able to sort you out tonight.

You can only copy terrain, not biomes. Biomes are not stored in map data, they are generated from the seed/biome code at run time and not stored. The 1.7 world shows a perfect example of this, when run off updated server code the biomes change to match the updated biome code for that seed resulting in all the mismatches you see in 1.7. If the current map was to be run with 1.2 server code a similar situation would occur, however Jens added an additional setting so it would continue to use the old biome code to prevent this.

Is there a patcher/mod we can implement to add the 1.2 biomes into the current map?

i know it's most probably a long shot, but im sure that most people on here would love to see jungle biomes in the 1.1 map, without having to move maps on every upgrade.

Hindrance : are you going to building outside your castle, I have some ideas by my green house, it will include a route to your build.

this will include.
a water fountain.
paths
meditterian walls
flowers and trees.

I'm hoping that there will be something on Bukkit eventually, yeah.

All i can say is get your plot in near spawn before anyone else does, can't see many places you can build without touching other builds now, unless you want a small space, saying that im gonna get so more land :)

Yeah I noticed dan/mrbios have multicoloured lawns too :D

lolbiomes

Something is very much amiss, assuming there were minor biome distribution changes there should not be the hard transitions between biomes that is being seen on the current carto. I won't be home until late this evening so can't look into it further until then.
