*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Does anyone have any good guides for crafting / professions in this? Made it out of the starter area last night and suddenly found myself lost. Playing an Operative IA and have Scavenging, Armscraft and Investigation currently but not sure if its a good combo.

Casual player so ability to make myself something nice would be good (Possibly switch to Armorcraft?) but also a way to make some money would be good too.

Bored at work and need something to read!

Thanks

No guides as such but my IA Sniper is armstech I chose it purely to supply myself with purple weapons and found that they sell like hot cakes.

There doesnt seem to be many weapon crafters on the Empire side of Frostclaw so pistols/sniper & blaster rifles fly out the Galactic Trade network giving me a steady income.

Thanks. I did make by first blaster last night and it was an exceptional with an augment slot. RE'd it though for mats.

I assume low level stuff not worth selling like all other MMOs and just wait for the higher ups?

Will consider the onse above though and switching to Cybertech etc though and see how I do.

I've had a self-imposed exile from SWTOR over the last couple of weeks due to having a big project on which is now finished. May well log on for a bit tonight and see what's going on.

You need to look at the GTN on your server and see where the gaps are and then fill them with your weapons...

One thing to consider is that you can sell 10 x more of a decent blue weapon (there is a good guide to the RE process on the offical forum under Crew skills) than you will have purple materials to make the purple ones.

So my advice is only RE to purple IF you want it for use AND you have plenty of resources as it can take 20+ RE's to get the stats you want ...... or you could have sold those 20 blue weapons and saved a lot of $$ and time :)

All my own opinion from my own experiences etc, other peoples may vary :D

Scoundrel/Operative have been removed from the game, basically :p
Hehe, come on now - they did need a bit of a nerf.

Tbh my main annoyance in PVP atm is shadows - in a 1 VS 1 in Ilum you get them down to 5% HP & they stun/vanish//remove dot/charge = gone - besides, not even every class get's a DOT :(

Absolutely nothing you can do as some classes, as not everybody has a stealth break or can spam AOE.

Thanks anyway for the replies (reg the patch notes) dudes - wanted to find out what they have brok... I mean fixed ;)

Forums are back online mate, but i cant find the latest patch notes :)

They are there somewhere though:D

Looks like Bioware have finally opened their eyes and 'almost' acknowledged the game has performance issues! A guide to the graphics options isn't really what people had in mind but its a start along with:

Low FPS in the fleets, warzones and Ilum

We’re very aware of the frame-rate degradation that even top-notch systems experience in these gameplay scenarios. We’ve taken measures to control the overall impact that character-heavy scenarios can have on system performance, but there is always more we can do. We are constantly investigating and optimizing, and we are in the process of making changes to the fleets that have hopefully yielded some improvement.

Some of you have pointed out that your GPU is not being fully utilized when in these types of situations; we have found that character-heavy situations like these are usually limited by the CPU, not by rendering, so this makes sense.

Full post is here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=2337868

And the site is up for me guys ;)

*Our texture options are High / Low. We are planning an additional setting for character textures, closer to the quality seen in cinematic scenes, which is under development right now.

Sweet! I didn't know this, I thought they were just fixed on the "Can't sorry, too much of a performance hit for people" stance.

Edit: After reading that guide, it's a bit rubbish :p it's general knowledge for the most part.

Yep, a lot of unhappy people replying to that thread.. I just wish they'd sort it out. I'm one of those who can't play, the framerate stinks, unsub'd until they sort out the mess but got friends who are flying through the end game stuff :(

The full site is still down for me

Try and clear your history/cache on your browser,i have to do this nearly every time the website has maintenance, dont ask my why?

If i dont clear history/cache,i get the "Website is down for maintenance" message even though the website is online.

interesting thing about the Scoundrel / Operative nerf ....

The opener that knocks you down has been reduced to 1.5 seconds from 4, however it now only adds 1/4 resolve meaning after initial attacks they can use Dirty Kick or Debilitate to stun the player for another 4 seconds (Providing their stun break is on CD).

;p

Was never the stun I had issues with really, it's the damage they could inflict in those few seconds from stealth.

+ 1

Stuns are not so much of an issue, it's being insta gibbed durring the stun that annoyed me :)

My Gunslinger seems to attract the stealth monkeys like flies anyway, might be my aftershave i suppose...
