I decided to just get a late model one with a warranty.
I'll do some mods to this one for sure but when I poste about getting an early one I hadn't decided to ditch the 7.

Yea, I wasn't seeing the point of paying over the odds but then I realised you got it for 11k sticker which is cheap. You are looking at 8k for a decent old one from what I can tell as it is so to get a more recent version with less miles hasn't cost all that much.
My self, I can see me wanting a earlier one, more raw and pure and leaving me more cash to play with it a tiny bit.
Although the extra Tax is going to cover the cost of a new roof within 3 or so years isn't it?

I personally think the pure/rawness argument for an earlier model is well over played. If you are going to play with it anyway then just dial in/out the traits you want/do not want. No point committing to an early model just for something you can sort out yourself anyway.
You want one with 17"s for sure as they handle far better. Unless people are professional drivers I do not see the point of intentionally opting for the snap happy early models on 16"s.
If that was the overall goal why not buy something more focused towards that rawness?
I much prefer the look of the later models. I looked at a few early and late models side by side and the updated headlights, led tail lights etc just seem to lift the car if you know what I mean.
Like you say, it's only 3k ish more than a tidy rev2 that's been looked after and, as Sin says, I can get the geo done soon and if it's seized I can just go straight to Honda and demand it be fixed under warranty. That's 1k saving right there.
At the end of the day, it's a toy for me. It was the right model, in the right colour at the right price. Can't say fairer than that.

Sick of the whole "Buying an older one for the rawness" mentality as I do not think in the grand scheme of things it makes much of a difference.
The Pros of the newer models far outweigh any perceived rawness of a 99 model and you can adjust the setup as you feel necessary anyway.
Given the choice between a facelift and pre-facelift at the same money/condition I think you would have to be barking mad to pick the older model.
