Hey all. Well this obviously won't apply to all, only those that are Virgin Media users but wondering who else has recieved a letter from them stating that they are entitled to double broadband speed.

I got a letter about a week ago and was a bit dubious at first (most my mail from VM consists of mobile phone offers/tarrifs and all that lark).

So, I must admit I was a tad suprised to see that my current 10Mb connection will soon be 20Mb at "no extra cost".

Of course, one has to ask if they are spending so much money, time and resources upgrading peoples connections then surely the money has to be made back somewhere.

My original connection (the days of NTL) was 2Mb for £18 a month. Now it's £21 a month so I can't really complain. If it does stay at that price and I get double the speed then all I can say is that I will be staying with VM for quite some time.

Your thoughts please.

Exactly why I will be switching to VM soon. Luckily I'm in an area without massive over-subscription because VM can be terrible in student areas etc!

The service is great I guess but the customer support and "engineer" knowledge is poor as hell as I have first hand experience from the last few days.

It's far superior than skys. Also if you have 50mb try the 0800 number I e posted in the virgin thread a few times in network section. It's a dedicated 50mb who are English and know what they are talking about. I haven't used it for over a year, so no idea if it still exists.

It exists but you are endlessly waiting for someone to pick up. This is part of my complaint to the CEO office that I emailed to them today. A dedicated number that is anything but is not delivering what I am paying for.

must have gone downhill, pretty much instant when I needed them. Had a few issues when I first got vm in my new house. Luckily been fine for over a year now.

I signed up for VM 2MB over 4 years ago and have been upgrade for no extra cost a couple of times now. I'm currently on 20MB and still paying the same price :) Hopefully I will get included in the upcoming upgrades.

I wont feel quite as ripped off with the £25 I am currently paying for the 10mb internet if it doubles.

I feel bad for a workmate, he's moving house in a few weeks and he phoned BT today to find out what they can offer......1-2.5Mb

Grrr, I dont know why they can't just charge everyone the same rate, instead of punishing long time customers. I was getting broadband from them when they were cable and wireless. I'd move to another provider but I'm happy with VM in terms of speed and reliability etc.

Looking at my bill I think we also get the L tv package in with the internet as it shows up as £0 on the bill, but even still it seems expensive. Might ring them as threaten to cancel everything if they don't lower the price. I have tried a couple f times in the past but don't seem to get anywhere.
