Looked all around the web and on OCUK and stock levels seem to be static.

This is just not normal for a new GFX hardware release.

I fear AMD might of been slighty greedy here asking what they are for the performance you get.

If you are a GTX 580 user or even a 6970 user the urge to "upgrade" is just not there IMO.

i know what you mean, id really love to get the Asus Direct CU II 7970 BUT my Asus 6970 can play everything at max and for £500 i cant justify the difference.

I doubt Gibbo is going to come on here and say OcUK can't shift them.

Even if they aren't selling it won't be his fault. They are expensive everywhere and AMD need to realise in the last few years people just don't have £300-500 to blow on a graphics card.
They have brought a card out for the high end market that people just cannot afford at the moment, plus as previously mentioned the ported games don't need the power.
I remember pre 2008 so so many members were changing their hardware frequently! Now in these harder times nobody is upgrading.

Seriously what is with this guy, he's done nothing but moan and complain about the price of these cards for over a week now?

If you think the card is wrongly priced don't buy it and if enough people feel the same way then I'm sure AMD will act accordingly but for the record you can't buy the sort of performance a 7950 offers for less outside of going SLI/Crossfire. If they sell out on they day or in the first week then it means AMD under priced them and I'd wager AMD and its shareholders don't want to see a repeat of the 5870 debacle.

Yes it seems pointless to upgrade these days unless you have a really old or slow GPU...
There just been no games released that need the power....

The days of needing to upgrade all the time to play the lastest hardware pushing games seem to be well gone .....:(

That's not the point

Stock needs to sell. It isn't.

From what Gibbo said they have like 200 cards to shift which is double what they had for the 7970 so I wouldn't expect to so many out of stock items just yet. Besides the GTX580 wasn't exactly moving mountains which is the same card the 7950 is competing against.

You have shares in AMD or OCUK? Why all the angst?

I share he's frustration but I know the reality, AMD have no competition for the 7950 and 7970 so they can charge what they like. Like most of us he probably misses the £300 5870's days.

Of course they can if people buy them:p

The fact is something is only worth what people are prepared to pay.

I have learnt this after buying and seeling Guitars over the years and making many 1000's of pounds.

Hi there

Sales are there but I personally feel they could be better if AMD were say hitting £299 Inc for them.

But in response to your question they are moving at a steady pace, just not selling like hot cakes, but are certainly at no risk of not selling. :)
