How hard is it to obtain a pump-action shotgun (legally?)

You do know that zombies are in fact real right? They might not be the same versions as you see in the Day of the Dead, but they still zombies or slaves for that matter.

Also, how do you know it's impossible, are you God? Do you know everything that known and unknown science can do and can't do? If so, call me a prophet and let me a start up a religion that worships your all knowing self.

I'm not worried, am just replying to a post.
What do you mean they are in fact real? Where? Show the proof.
The point I am making is that is impossible under current science, which means that it's very very unlikely to happen.
Zombie apocalypse nutters should just get on with their life, there are better things to worry about such as decreasing amounts of fuel.

What, you don't know about zombies, voodoo and all that? Thought this stuff was common knowledge. o.O

Only going from a long ago memory of a program I once watched about rabies here but isn’t the last couple of minutes you are alive with rabies a kind of "Zombie" like state were by you try and bite someone to pass on the infection?

Now imagine they are working on a cure for rabies and instead of curing it all it does is keep you going past that end point… ;)

Never heard of that.

What I know about the voodoo zombies is that some drug makes the person become like a zombie, where he obeys orders and everything, modern day slavery pretty much, the person doesn't have a will or want or something.

Doesn't go around biting people through, lol

Depends where you live as to whether they insist on a gun cabinet or not. I use a gun clamp.
As said above, the police need a good reason not to give you a SGC. Talking about the zombie apocalypse would probably be just the reason they are looking for to turn you down...

Pump action shotguns really arnt your best bet in a zombie outbreak. They are slow to reload and very loud, which will attract more undead to your location.

Your best bet, if you must use a gun, would be either a rifle, preferably with a sniper scope, or a simple 9MM handgun. A silent weapon such as an axe or hammer would be even better, but does require a certain amount of strength and stamina to use effectively, and can be dangerous to use when faced with multiple hostiles at once.

Depends how you define "zombie" are people in comas zombies? or does the term "zombie" purely mean, eats human flesh? Personally, I like the Metallica video for All Nightmare Long as a decent explaination as to where zombies come from.

On another note....

I don't know of any gun shops in my local area, but when I was at Uni I used to drive past "Guns 'n Stuff"

Pretty sure you could walk in there with some cash and walk out with a gun within 24 hours.

What justifiable reason (other than working in Armed Response) would anyone ever have for requiring a gun?

Not that I'm against it at all but seriously how can you justify requiring a gun?

"I'm the founding member of my local NRA"
"I shoot rats at the airport"
"I'm a game hunter"

I honestly can't see any reason why anyone would handover a gun to anybody because surely the only reason to buy a gun is to cause harm and/or "protect thy family, with thy big ass shotgun"

Better to plan for something that doesnt happen, than become one of the horde looking for braaaiinzzzzz...

I have an underground bunker with a 2 foot thick steel door and sophisticated ventilation systems, and enough food and water to last for three years, which is surely long enough for the zombies to die out.

Only gun you could turn up and buy would be an air rifle, to own a shotgun or firearm requires a licence which takes at the very least about 6 weeks to get, although over 6 months has been known.

Reasons? Target shooting, lots of rifle clubs. Vermin control - rabbits, foxes & squirrels are all pests which farmers and landowners need rid of. Pigeons as well can cause lots of crop damage.
Clay pigeon shooting - great fun and a popular sport!

Home/self defence is not a reason to own a gun and you will be refused.

No reason is needed for a shotgun certificate, although your FEO (firearms enquiry officer) will no doubt ask you anyway. A simple answer of 'clay pigeon shooting' will suffice.
You'll need a lockable cabinet/safe to store it in which must be bolted to a solid wall and out of plain sight.
You'll need to disclose any previous offences (no matter how minor, 3 pts for speeding etc) and give permission for your gp to be approached, medical records etc.
You'll then need someone of good standing (doctor, lawyer etc) to be your referee to vouch for you and also sign the back of your passport photos to say they are a true likeness of you.

Once all that is done your FEO will come out and visit you at home, informal interview, make sure you know the rules about shotgun ownership (carrying it in public, transporting etc) they will also check your security arrangements and make sure your safe is secure.
Few weeks later you should hopefully have your shotgun cert and you can go shopping!
You can have single barrel, double (side by side, over & under) pump action, semi auto etc but the magazine must not hold more than 2 carts (and one in the breech - 2+1)
It must be minimum 40" length and barrel no shorter than 24".
Pistol grips, rails, laser dot sight etc are all fine.

Whatever you do...do NOT mention home defence, zombie invasion etc as reasons to want one. You'll be refused and probably referred for psychiatric treatment.

Interesting read :)

Clever girl...

:p love that film

And an air rifle isn't suffient enough for all of the above?

Just want to reiterate that I'm not against it, just looking for someone to convince me that anybody would possibly need more than an air rifle
