Irrational pet hate: people who say 'for baby' not 'for the baby' :p

I'm not a fan of waxing lyrical over the virtues of being a parent, so I subconsciously try to minimise the baby-associated word count. You're right though...just haven't worked out how to refer to the baby. Usually by name suffices.

After a TDI the FSI will be completely gutless. You hit 3000rpm and nothing happens but lots of noise.. Ive tried both, and the FSI sucks! At least with the diesel you get the little short-lived thrill of the turbo kick.

He is talking about the VRS FSI which is turbocharged. (TFSI)

lol dieselowners

Whilst the PD power kick is amusing I wouldn't call it a driver's car. The PD TDI is funny, it's the slowest feeling 0-60 in ~8.5 secs I've driven.

Completely agree, the 180 in my civic diesel doesn't improve that any - still not a 0-60 machine of any sort, just has improved in gear giggles

Why shouldn't have you rear windows tinted if you have a baby?

Why is having a diesel for short journeys a bad thing? they're still more economical, but yes the VRS (I was thinking you meant the 120bhp VRS which is a diesel anyway so I got confused) is a nice car, fairly fast too

Because for short trips the economy benefits are lost but you end up blocking up the DPF etc.

Plus if you have a chance to extinguish the hateful diesel din from your life then why not?

120bhp VRS, what have you been smoking?

A diesel won't even nearly be warm in 5 miles - you'd be slowly killing it and wouldn't see any real economy benefits as above

Nothing wrong with diesel mate

erm
1: it stinks
2: it makes a horrible noise
3: utter lack of power
4: the pollution it makes is worse for "the baby" that a petrol car.

thats just two reasons and its enough for me.

The thing I don't like about diesels is the way they have no real power untill that turbo kicks in.

and driving a diesel makes me feel like I'm at work...........

This would be the biggest problem I see, not sure a 56 PD would have a DPF (would also depend on the model IIRC) but it's not going to be happy doing so many short cold journeys. I'd look to change it, but not rush it instantly I guess. vRS also comes with more toys on the upside.

I'd also just put they baby on the other side of the car to the sun rather than the UV stuff, I'm sure it will survive.

Just because Clarkson dislikes them because Ferrari don't make a diesels doesn't make them bad cars at all.

1. Thats personal preference, a lot of people like the diesel smell
2. Compared to a Saxo with a huge exhaust? I think not
3. A decent diesel will probably come with a turbo
4. the baby is inside the car, not sucking the exhaust

I just checked out the VRS, it's 177bhp, I always thought the VRS was a 120bhp diesel lol
