Haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere so thought it was worth posting a thread. There's a new episode of Motorway Cops on BBC One (HD) at 8pm tonight.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01bqpjd

The Motorway Cops are seeking out drivers who are desperate not to get caught and they find that some people will take extraordinary risks just to get away from them.

Near Bromsgrove, PCs Adam Toal and Paul Owen spot a white van driving with no lights on, but as they turn to catch it the situation quickly turns into a chase. Some way down the road they find the van parked up but with no one in it. As the driver's door is locked they begin to suspect that the owner may have some explaining to do so start a series of late night house calls to find him.

PCs Shail and Clarke are also trying to track down a driver who has run from his vehicle, this time after he crashed it on an unlit section of the motorway, leaving a trail of devastation in his wake.

On the M6, PCs Dave Gaunt and Kevin Whitehouse are looking for a £70 000 Bentley that they believe is being driven by a disqualified driver, but when they eventually stop it they find the owner is not driving it, and the man who is has more than one identity.

PCs Elliott and Bullard are joined on the nightshift by dayshift cops PCs Steve Millward and Mark Calladine to help stop a gang carrying drugs across the country. The van driver goes to dangerous lengths to get away, while his passenger attempts to get rid of the evidence.

Am I the only one who finds most of those police officers cringeworthy? Still makes interesting viewing :D

That bird who drives the motorway car, Jess something. Oof :D

Can't beleive some of the convictions at the end of the show, laughable :/

Did the guy in Merc with the wrong plates on his car end up getting nothing except his time wasted? If he did then the long arm of the law triumphs again :(

Do they run a consistent series of this or is it literally every once in a blue moon they stick a new one on tele?

Every so often I'll see one stuck on iplayer with no followup a week or month later.

Did anyone understand what was meant RE: the 10kg of drugs in the boot when the narrator said at the end "The CPS offered no evidence".

That confused me, because surely the CPS's evidence is.....the 10kg of Class A, the driver and the passenger, about 10 police officers to testify and an HD quality BBC film to show what happened.

Never underestimate how dumb people can be

I haven't seen it, but I would guess that they can't prove it belonged to any of the occupants? Just having it in your car isn't enough.

Damn, I was getting angry just watching the police stop that van and pull its occupants out.

They were far too soft with them and should really get a grip. I know that staying calm stops the situation from escalating into something nasty but if those guys want to put other people's lives in danger, they should be treated the same way.

Pull them out the van, face bouncing straight off the curb. That'll sort them!

Exposed as a fairly latent liar and permabanned if what went round is correct, and no one has had any reply to say otherwise.

The whole idea that it was some mysterious alter ego and all lies just seriously seems so elaborate when compared with other internet trolls you usually get on here.

I mean, if it was all made up, then someone took some serious time and effort creating/coming up with all those images/back stories etc.

I exchanged a few emails with him, though he did have some choice words to say about others on here. :p :o

Seems very strange to me. For the CPS to offer no evidence in Court they've gone through the process of evaluating the evidence and charging them, so they must have had something on them.

I suspect the occupants may have got out of it by grassing up those higher up the food chain.

Did anyone see the episode the other week where the 5 series Touring rear-ended an A6 at considerable speed when the A6 was stationary at the toll plaza on the M6 Toll? Driver didn't brake - CCTV showed no brake lights. They took no further action against the driver! I thought that was absolutely disgraceful when people are fined and dragged to court for minor speeding offences of absolutely no consequence.

An unfortunate alternative is that the CPS buggered up the case at some point. I'm told they've never been entirely on the ball. With recent cost-cutting measures they're even more likely to fail to submit the right documentation on time for the case.
