Z68 Motherboard to control chassis fans

Thinking about upgrading my Abit IP35 pro / Q6600 setup. Looking at a i5-2500K with 16 GB. Have a SSD already.

I want a Z68 MB but want to be able to control the 4 chassis fans in my old school ATC-201 case. If the fans run at full speed the system is too noisy. The old µGuru in the Abit MB does a great job of reducing noise.

So what is the cheapest MB that can control the speed of 4 chassis fans?

Thanks

I would just get a fan controller. £20, £30. You'll get better control, and more flexible.

Akasa also has an adapter that allows you to control a set of fans through a single motherboard fan header (and using a molex for power). For PWM fans afaik.

Thats right; If the fans aren't PWM ones, they will still run at full speed without a fan controller or resistor to slow them down.

I use the above adapter cable with my asus Z68 board (some control in bios) all with apache fans, its a great job.
I figure if one component in your system needs more cooling at a given time then the other fans might as well work a little harder too, to bring in cold air and get rid of it.

Think this makes sense lol
