Hi all,

this will probably make you laugh, and no doubt some of you will be younger than the above graphics cards, but this is a genuine question, I'm so far out of the game!!!

Also, am I right to assume a Geforce 6800 will be far faster than either of the aforementioned?

thanks in advance

The real question is....do you think the Geforce 4 Ti 4200 would run Football Manager 2012?!

The minimum GPU requirements for FM 2012 say:

Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra or greater;

ie a top end Geforce 5000 series which supports DirectX 9 is required, so unfortunately I don't think a mid-end 4000 series (which only supports directX 8) will cut it - as FM2012 is a DirectX 9 game.

Bit rusty on the older cards, but at a guess I'd say TI4200 < FX5900 << 6800.

Although I'd be tempted to put them on Ebay for £10 each (someone will buy them) and buy a £25 G210 or ATI 5450 - fanless so less noise and I'm guess a lot less power draw...... Bi-winning.

sound advice mate, thing is, it's AGP!

Gainward did a very nice 6800 on AGP (512MB w/ a cut down Ultra Extreme core) also 7900GS AGP IIRC but a lot of them were faulty, there was also I believe a 3850 or similiar from AMD which was probably the fastest AGP card.

Yes I think that's what I have done on my 6800 lolly :D I am giving my rig to my bro in law and basically need to decide if I can get away with giving him my Ti4200 or whether I need to give up my 6800!

I bought a fx5900, worst card ive ever owned and to make matters worse nvidia released the 6600gt the day after i bought the bloody thing

I bought a 5900 'non ultra' when they were released and ended up being so unhappy with the performance that I sold it about a month later.

That was the last nvidia card I bought. Been Ati ever since.
