Xigmatek Gaia SD1283 H.D.T CPU Air Cooling System

Those temps look like idle temps which mean nothing.

The Gaia is a decent budget cooler, as is the Freezer 13 but you get what you pay for.

Used to have a Freezer Pro 13 on my 2600K, it was fine up towards 4.5ghz.

anyone using the megahalems cooler on a 2500/2600k? would be interesting to see temps at 4.5ghz+,i have the akasa nero s,it just manages to keep an acceptable 4.5ghz clock temp but really could do with a better cooler, run a thermolab baram heatsink on my x58 and thats a great cooler 4.2ghz and sub 79c but no 1155/1156 mounting clips:(

idles in the mid 40s,and blend prime upper 70s ! - small prime > 83C (at which point I stop)

perfectly stable though

I'm running at approx 1.5V, but even at 1.43V it gets under small prime into upper 70s

and yes the heatsink is clean of dust etc

Ive been using the Original S1283 for about 3 years or more. Has been a great cooler. Keeps my Q6600 at 3600 (1.465v) at around 50c durring normal use and between 60-65c using prime or video encoding ect.. About time I reseated and cleaned it.

Would this be a better buy than the Gelid which is on offer at the moment?

I've not tried either despite having both boxed brand new on my pile of hardware 'to do' table.

Off the bat and at stock the Gelid is heavier and would be the safer bet but I've got my hopes up high that with a little lapping and dual fans on the Xigmatek, it *should* whip the Gelid good and proper :D
