Its brilliant, have watched the first series in the last 3 days, cant believe I havent watched it before! its very funny, characters are building nicely.

love it.

Good on you. You'll rattle through the first four seasons like lightning, I'm sure. Persevere through the immediate post-Sorkin period, during season five, as it's the weakest the show gets, and it picks up a lot when it takes a completely new direction in seasons 6 and 7.

For pure enjoyment I don't think a show will ever overtake The West Wing for me. It just gives a warm, fuzzy feeling whenever I watch it through again (8 times and counting), and really does feel like I'm greeting old friends.

I actually learned a fair bit about American politics watching this. One of the greatest shows I've ever seen.

Agree. I watched all the box sets and they were compulsive viewing bar one episode shot entirely with camcorders live that was a miserable failure of an experiment.

I've just finished the first series and I found it annoyingly cheesy. I'm going to persist but there was no real grittiness and I didn't like most of the characters, some of them felt like they belonged in an episode of Friends. I'm aware that I'm very much in the minority with this point of view and that said, I have also learnt a lot more about US politics as a result of the show.

Love it. My girlfriend is easily anti-American over most things (:p) and even she was won over by TWW. Stunning show and it only gets better the more you are drawn in. Aaron Sorkin is a genius.

I've had this gathering dust for over a year now, glad to see it's going down well with you guys, really need to get my arse into gear and start watching it.

Watched the first season really enjoyed it, for some reason didnt find the second season as appealing and lost interest. Perhaps I should persevere through again tho. Currently watching Californation for the first time at the moment just finished season one, really enjoying the show suprisingly I recommend it :D

One of the best series that I've ever watched, I'm almost slightly envious that you've still got the chance to watch it afresh as it were. I've only watched it once right through but I am pretty sure I'll rewatch it at some point.

I've really been scraping the bottom of the barrel for a decent tv show recently so might have to give this a go, never looked like my cup of tea.

I love the WW, watching it through for the third time at the mo. I actually thought season six was the worst, but the last season is still worth it.

I do prefer the WW's altruism to the cynical, sneering stuff we tend to produce (cf, The Thick Of It). Just enjoy watching it more having someone to root for. Can't be sure what right wingers get out of it though.

You summed it up for me, except I bailed during season 5 - I didn't even realise Sorkin had gone, I just found the episodes to be a lot more tired. I guess I know why now. First four seasons were some of the best TV I've ever seen though.

I wish I could go back and watch this for the first time.

I think it's the Best TV Show ever made, or certainly one of top few. Brilliant. Fantastic stuff. Nothing comes close to the first four seasons for me personally.

Brilliant. I've re-watched this so many times.

It's fantastic too if you don't know much about American politics, can be quite educational too.

I really liked In The Thick Of It too although I arguably watched them the wrong way round as by the time I got to it I'd already watched The West Wing and also In The Loop.

Missus has got the boxset and it's on my list of things to devour the next time I have some extended time off. Watched The Dead Zone last weekend. The last time Martin Sheen was president, the missiles were already flying.

Two Cathedrals is arguably the best single episode of television ever aired.

West Wing is the best show ever made. Simply brilliant.
