STALKER.... give me a?

Without fail every time I see "the zone" mentioned or something to do with nuclear power I'll venture off to steam to fire up one or other Stalker game ...

Haven't yet completed Clear Sky and still have to even start Call of Pripyat!

I like that sleep zone in the 2nd video - I always wondered what was back there - couldn't ever get access!

Yes, play the first one released, Shadow of Chernobyl. Read and then download this mod from here (comes with an installer) :

OMG she looks amazing with that mod going to use this for my first playthrough ever, never played a STALKER game before even though I do own them all, just never got around to actually playing through.

Well, as Rage hasn't arrived yet I may end up modding Stalker for another playthrough. I'll either opt for COP with a mod other than 'complete' that I haven't yet tried, or SOC + Oblivion Lost.

I envy you, voorhees1979, - playing this for the first time with mods. Enjoy. :)

Thanks :) No idea why I never played these before. Hope you enjoy Rage when it turns up, I have not finished it yet but I really enjoy playing it.

Stalker one of the most underrated games ever. Looks so beautiful with some mods,

Not by those of use who know better :)

Im well on my way through Clear Sky for my second run through. I think it maybe my first time with the complete mod.
The first stalker feels kind of messy, always getting missions that are over before you can get there. Clear Sky is much easer, im finding i can get through maps without even trying... but its offers you much to explore if you go out of your way, if you dont go out of your way then you will complete it a heck of a lot faster. Definatally much more friendly than the original.
The third in the series is far more linar, for want of a better word. You still get to explore but when you have played them all this one feels much more like a straight through shooter, although its far from it. It much more like that when compaired to the first two.

I dont like the way Clear Sky starts it gives totally the wrong impression of how the rest of the game plays. Shame as it may put people off playing.
I havnt got to it yet, but i remember the ending being very quick and feels like it was rushed.

Oh and the Red Forest can be a bit buggy, crashes all the time when i die, but being a hard core merc, i can handle it!

The only thing that the original does better than the others are the underground secret labs, i miss them when playing Clear Sky.

If there is one tip for the stalker games it would be to make regular saves.

I'm at the ending at the moment and having not bothered to pick up any better armour I'm stuck fighting the Monolith forces with just a slightly reinforced SEVA suit which is leading to me dying very fast :(

Clear Sky?

I was forced to buy the best armour and upgrades (after a few reloads to make sure the shop had it) before the dam bandits stole all my money.

Yea CS - I should have gone back and found a trader to buy a better suit off or tried to plunder one from somewhere but just didn't bother as the SEVA suit I have gives good artefact protection and has been OK thus far for fire fights ... it's just now on that walkway with no cover to speak of I'm being torn apart!!!

Might be a silly question but, when you go out of your way to explore, are you finding good things? or just empty buildings with dead stalkers or something.

Arc can you do me a favour and try this mod please? It's called ''NARODNAYA SOLYANKA'' or ''People Soup''.

I know it will read as a little unrealistic given the storyline, but I think one area that could have improved the Stalker games is for them to contain just a little more in the way of goodies when searching buildings. Although you can find items of real value, I do think that just a little too often you tend to experience quite an anti-climax and find little if anything to stir the senses. At least mods can address this to some degree. :)

Yes, Monilith weapons, ammo (to go with the weapons) and artifacts are a big bonus. Also the fun of getting yourself into so much **** that its hard to get out of.

Aside from Lost Alpha, this is apparently thee mod to play if you love Stalker. I have on one or two occasions mentioned it on Stalker threads here, but no one shed any input. I really want to play it, but simply haven't got round to it - I know, sounds like a really weak excuse, doesn't it? :D

I'll tell you what, I will have a go at it tomorrow night if Rage doesn't land on my door mat. If Rage does turn up tomorrow, which I doubt it will, then I'll get stuck into the mod straight away after I have finished Rage, which shouldn't take long. Looks like I'll need to find something other than megaupload.com though.

Apparently, the first part of the mod's gameplay is tough (you start off in a cave iirc). Once you get through that it is supposed to be excellent. Thanks for bringing this up! :)

I've done a bit of hunting around and it seems that there's three versions of this : from Steam forums : narodnaya soljanka - great expansion over vanilla narodnaya soljanka DMX DKZ V1.3.2 - as above but with DMX and DKZ's excellent flavour/input added on top
Stalkersoup (especially playing as collector) - as for NS DMX DKZ but extended further and still growing.

Stalkersoup seems to be the one most recommended to start with.

Edit : Trying to find a download link that's 'in house'. I like to have some idea of where I'm downloading from. :(

Incidentally, has anyone tried this one for COP?

i thought the ak47/2 trophy was a beast of a weapon although ammunition was very sparse.

S.O.C seems a little unpolished compared to clear sky so i might install the S.O.C complete mod and see what that brings. I also might add the weapon realism mod as i hate how i can fire 3 rounds into a guys head with the dragunov and he still stands shooting me lol

*edit* has anyone tried call of pripyat complete?

Yep, played all the complete mods, all very good. If you've just finished CS then I'd go for SOC complete with realism followed by COP complete. :)
