Though new rumors are suggesting that we won't see a Samsung Galaxy S II sucessor at next month's Mobile World Congress, it's pretty much guaranteed that Samsung will introduce something in Barcelona, Spain.
Yes, according to new rumors currently spreading across the Internet, Sammy instead will unveil a 2GHz dual-core Galaxy Tab instead.
Word of the device first surfaced in December when BGR reported on an alleged 11.6-inch tablet with a 2,560x1,600-pixel display resolution.
With a form factor said to be "barely larger" than its predecessor, the presumed Galaxy Tab 11.6 has a thinner bezel and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Taking a peek inside, the tablet should have a Samsung Exynos 5250 2GHz CPU, which is much more powerful than anything currently on the market.
Adding a bit of fuel to the fire, Android And Me reports that it was able to spend time with a prototype device earlier this month at CES in Las Vegas.
After taking a number of pictures of the tablet, however, Samsung asked the blog to delete the images. Although those actions aren't exactly confirmation of the tablet, Android And Me said that the device had a display larger than 10 inches and was running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Finally, there's also a report coming out of German site TabTech.de, which claims that Samsung will be announcing a Galaxy Tab 11.6 at Mobile World Congress.
What's more, the site claims that the tablet will include support for the same S-Pen technology that comes with the Galaxy Note. The image you see at the top of this article is a mockup created by TabTech and shows a slightly larger form factor, but with a much bigger display.

I will be mucho surprised if that resolution is true.

I very much doubt it as well. Would be pretty awesome though.

Interesting! All it needs to do is run Windows 8 and I'll be in the queue.

I think Android and iOS are both going to start losing in the tablet market when you can slap Windows on there. No more messing about. Currently the £1000+ price tag and not so great battery life is naturally going to put people off.

This basically and with the new feature set of Window Phone 8 announced a shiny hi-spec W8 tablet should integrate superbly with a WP handset.

As much as I like Android and my Galaxy S2, Microsoft's direction for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 makes the Android scene look very fragmented and disjointed.

How is that direction anything new? If anything, they're third after iOS and Android (since Android 4.0) to have a unified OS across multiple platforms.

Although Apple are only the ones to really get it "right" from the offset.

That is very nice, although think i'll wait until they release one with a exynos 5450 running windows 8....

...and isn't W8 still two separate operating systems with separate stores?

How is android or iOS unified?
They are missing desktops and laptops, also let's not forget xbox has same interface as well. 5devices compared to two for iOS/android.
As well as w8 being far superior in many areas. True multitasking with split screen for example.
The refresh feature being another.
No stupid pop up webpages for wifi hotspur logins, which on iOS is a pet hate of mine as it doesn't work half the time and you have to forget the network completkey then login all over again.

no

No.

Metro, WinRT and the app store (or whatever they're calling it) are on both ARM and x86.

However Explorer and Win32 are only available on x86.

no

They use the same operating system on mobile devices

You don't need to have the same OS on your desktop/laptop, majority of households have owned a PC for decades before tablets or smartphones came to the scene or took off.

In order to appeal to the masses (read, technically challenged people), smartphones, tablets and their operating systems have been designed to operate in strict boundaries that aren't going to confuse your average consumer. For example, you get all your applications from one place unlike a laptop where software is hosted on millions of different websites and in several installer formats (.exe, .msi); all with their own installer options. There are benefits to the same thing existing on a PC (and it kind of already does with Linux Package Managers) but it should never be the only allowable source of applications like it is on the iPhone.

It's the whole reason why Windows Mobile failed. People who thought pressing a wrong button on their computer lead to World War III breaking loose, also felt the same way about doing something wrong on their phone.

I've never once thought "I need Android on my laptop" and you'll find that majority of iPhone users also run Windows, but wouldn't touch WP with a bargepole.

They're your opinions. To me, a multi tasking system that allows you to have two windows side by side, isn't all that beneficial on a mobile device where the screen sizes are 10". It's certainly never been a feature I've longed for.

Except your totally wrong on all fronts. As well as massively contradicting yourself. People want unified and one Market place, but not on a desktop. What?

W8 has well defined Borders and can get everything from one place be it desktop or phone. This makes it extremely simple.
Bring brings desktops to a simple and single marketplace, it keeps the unified and user friendly approach, but it adds much more power under the hood for mobile devices.

So you've never been watching YouTube/film or other and wished you could browse forums/Facebook/twitter at the same time. I think most people would use split screen when it's available.

The reason windows mobile failed is it was rubbish wp7/8 is nothing like windows mobile/ce it's not even comparable.

Yes, I'm totally wrong. The personal computer industry never took off and almost every household in the developed world never owned at least one machine per house hold; because there wasn't an operating system that ran on my phone and tablet computer.

Oh no wait, that's not true.

So you're saying that I'm wrong on all fronts? So I'm wrong that majority of iPhone users will run Windows installs on their desktops? Pretty sure I'm right about that too, seeing as Windows7/Vista and XP combined have share of 80%+

That goes against your opinion that it's somehow important or critical to consumers that they have the same OS on their devices. In fact, if that were true; Windows Phone would be doing much better simply due to the fact that 80% of desktop owners are already running Windows.

No, I've never wanted to do all of those at the same time on a mobile device. Why would you when the experience would be crap? You would be watching a movie in a tiny window.

Just like I've never wanted to use mobile applications on my laptop.

I'm talking about phones (WP8) and PCs/tablets (W8), not x86/ARM. Microsoft are still keeping the two largely separate at this stage.
According to the WP8 leak devs can reuse code but it's still two discrete platforms/stores(?)

We'll have to see when they officially announce Apollo.

Obviously with Android you can buy any app on your phone and install it on your tablet (and hope they've optimised it for a larger screen :p) Does iOS still have separate apps for phone/tablet?
