How do I get a GTX550Ti to work on a AMD 760G motherboard?

As per title. Building a system for a friend and in the past I've just used Nvidia chip motherboard so never had this problem, but he's under the impression you can get the GT 550ti to work?

Is it a case of installing the Nvidia drivers on the pc and then changing the bios to use the 550ti over the onboard graphic's?

Motherboard is this one-
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

Cheer's :)

Just remove the old drivers, plug it in and install the ATI drives and of you go.

If the card needs a power connection, so that too.

Usually plugging in a graphics card into the main PCI-E slot on the motherboard disables the onboard graphics and uses the graphics card as the primary display output. If it doesn't do that automatically, then yes go into the BIOS and make the switch.

If the system previously just used the onboard graphics (or an AMD/ATI card) then I would suggest running driversweeper, installing the new card and after it is in place and working on default windows drivers install the current Nvidia display drivers off the Nvidia website (not off the DVD that came with the card).

Stupid question... but a few people I know have done it.

Have you still got the cable from the monitor still plugged into the motherboard VGA???

Again, I say, stupid question, but sometimes it happens.

This is the answer I was looking for, thank you!

haha, I know what your thinking. I tried both the motherboard and the cards plugs and only the onboard grapic's gave a display, yet the fan on the card was spinning, so I know its just a driver issue. From the above answer I should be able to get this all fixed! Excellent help as always guys

Just like to let everyone know how it went.

Friend brought his computer round this evening and after adding power to the 550Ti (after the computer was already running) W7 picked up the card right away, then it was plain sailing with the drivers and now its fully working and I have a very happy friend!

Once again, thanks for all the help guys!
