ive just installed the driver that came on the disk which are 8.921.0.0

i see more up to date drivers on the amd website, but they s eem to be for 64 bit windows, im using 32 bit.

do need to be using 64 bit windows 7 with this card??

i also see catalyst 11.2 and 12.1 but im not sure exactly what they are.

so what should i install???

If you can install 64bit, I definately would do. Windows 32bit can only see 3.5 - 4GB of memory total and your new 7970 could be using most of that and not leaving much for Windows (or vice versa, windows taking all the memory and not leaving much 7970 memory available)

Doesn't compute

i know i know lol, it doesnt make sense, i had the money, a very old card, so wanted to treat myself.

ive been playing BF3 now for 3 hours, so maybe i will start gaming on the pc, i normally do it on the xbox 360 thats all.

Please install windows 7 64bit, my PC ocd will not let me sleep tonight knowing someone is trying to run a 7970 on 32 bot windows.

added my pc specs in my sig for reference, if it works?

Do a CTRL ALT DEL and go to task mananger. Look at Performance tab and see how much free memory you have.

With 4GB System memory and 3GB video memory, you will be losing 3 - 3.5GB of memory somewhere due to using 32bit Windows.

damn was hoping to avoid 64 bit, ive just re installed 32 bit, but ti does make sense as my bench scores are a bit lower than ive seen, only a litte though

yes its using far more memory than ive seen used before, even when encoding blu rays.

time to go 64 bit and order another 4GB of ram i think
