Grabbed the grey 8GB kit and the packaging says:

1600Mhz
1.65v

I tried this before via XMP and manual and it caused my windows loading thing to go all juddery/laggy, so was wondering if I was doing anything wrong....

Other specs:
[email protected] (Moderate)
z68ap-d3 (7fe bios version)
HD 6850 OC'd

Just want to get my moneys worth at 1600mhz really...

sandybridge ram shouldnt be run a 1.65V i dont think, it should be more like 1.5V, also, because it is dual channel, each stick runs at 800mhz

i would have thought that the settings should be: 1.5V and 800mhz

but i am very likely wrong, so check first :p

Yeah, that's what I was wondering about - It says on the box to run at 1600mhz with 1.65v, but everyone says 1.5 for sb and I was wondering if that's what caused the boot problems.

Eh I guess I try manually setting it to 1600 and leaving voltage at 1.5

It runs at 800MHz because it's Double Data Rate not because it's dual channel.

Setting the RAM to 1600MHz in the BIOS will sort everything out and it will read as 800MHz using CPU-Z in Windows.

OP, just use the XMP Profile and then manually set the DRAM voltage to ~1.5V.

And that'd be fine,even though it's rated @ 1.65v?

i had the same ram in a oc's mobo bundle at 1.5v my pc would reset on boot up so i set it to 1.65v and the resetting stopped and its running fine now. im using xms3 ram now @ 1.65v using the xmp profile with no problems too
