Going away from the topic slightly, is the exhaust on this car non-standard, just seems to me that the pipes are larger than I seem to remember from other 335i's that I've seen around? It may just be my funny eyesight

To somehow suggest everybody on OcUK is brainwashed into thinking wood is horrible and that they must be in "error" strikes me a little odd!

Its a milltek exhaust.

It was a massive pain in the ass to fit properly but once it was finally on it gave the car a nice deep sound.

Wood depends on the vehicle, it looks out of place in an HGV, believe me! :p fine in my e39, and bloody awful in that pic you posted!

Whilst i generally agree with your views on fake eBay items - i can't see why you hold this viewpoint on this item without even seeing one in real life?

From your post it seems like you're encouraging buying a Genuine BMW (if you can get a dealer to give one to you) just because they charge a lot of money for it and in your mind them charging you a lot of money for it = it must be high quality.

Reality = BMW must make an absolute killing on selling a 1.5m piece of plastic for £190 when it costs them around £5 to make.

Why do you think that the spoiler has no place on my car and only M reg E36's? Does it look wrong to you? I can assure you the colour is spot on and it is made from the same plastic as the BMW spoiler.

So, i'm genuinely interested to hear your reasons - why would you pay £250+ for the Genuine BMW one (painted), over this one for £49?

My mantra has always been to never buy anything cheap if it has compromises on quality. This doesn't at all - hence, it is fine by me. I bought my front Aero spoiler from BMW because i was worried that the replica's would not fit as well and not look right, but with the rear spoiler, this is much less of an issue due to it's very simple design!!

Ignore Fox, the spoiler was one of the rare bargains you get on eBay and when you get it, you'll wonder why you ever considered paying 4 times more for one, just because it in a lovely BMW box.

If for some reason you hated it (honestly can't see why you would), chuck it on E90 post for £40 and someone probably will have it off you by the end of the day (especially if it's finished in silver or black).

Only piece of advice is to not use the tape that comes with it - go to B&Q and buy some No More Nails tape (red). Should be £2. This No More Nails tape is mental strong.

I loved the wood, now you're gone and made it look like 90% of the other BMW's out there,

Which means only 10% of people liked and opted for wood trim when they bought their BMWs - hence 9 vs 1

Luxury and executive cars have always traditionally featured wood and more recently at least the option to have it. Shame to see it taped over.

This is what i'm saying though. A E92 335i isn't a luxury or executive car. It's a premium sporty coupe, which is why it just doesn't suit wood trim. It'd be a bit like putting carbon fibre trim in a Rolls Royce, or putting Walnut trim in a Lamborghini Aventador - neither would suit the car. Wood suits most Jags, 7 Series, S Class, Bentleys, Rolls Royces - but not the 3 Series - it just doesn't!

Plus, i do think wood generally appeals to the er... more "mature" petrol heads among us. Those of us who were lusting over nice big E39's/Jags at 21 when "most" 21 year olds petrol heads were lusting over Focus ST's/330ci's/M3's etc etc. Don't mistake this as having a go, because it most certainly isn't, i just think many people who like wood trim in cars, tend to make up the more "mature" (read: old man ) demographic.

If you had black I'd agree, the carbon would be more 'sporting' but with the cream interior pretty much anything but wood just looks wrong, IMHO anyway

There are about 2 or 3 variants on the market (one of which is from Germany and is terrible), but this one really is fantastic. If it arrived in a BMW box, i wouldn't have questioned its quality for one second.

...it is £145 delivered, primed. Plus £50 for spraying? Around £200 all in then. Mine was over £150 cheaper than this, with no known loss in quality. I'm not trying to "save face" or "justifying my purchase" or anything, if i've bought something that's a bit tat, i will happily say, like i have done before.

I just don't want people to read baseless, generalising comments and it potentially putting them off a bargain, because your opinions do carry weight on here, but, when people give uninformed opinions out, it gets my goat a bit, which i imagine is the same for you.

Of course, this is why i chose the "play on words" thread title i did - i knew some people would hate it and some people would love it. I quite like how it contrasts the cream interior. And even a couple of good work friends/colleagues who were telling me that wood is awesome and i shouldn't change it, saw it on Friday and said that it actually looked really nice!

I have wood...deal with it.

Anyway, I think it looks pretty good, though part of me thinks carbon effect also goes well with red leather...and I don't like red leather.

Personally I wouldn't say wood/cream is any better than carbon/cream, black/cream etc...its all down to your personal preference.

Certainly looks good from here - the ones I've seen have had glaring issues like squared off corners etc. I'd probably have done what you did, looking at those pictures.

And yea, I did consider carbon when I decided it was time to get rid of the awful silver but thought it would make things a bit dark.

Cream and Wood always. Whether that is dark wood or light wood is up to you. But ALWAYS wood. Anything else just looks stupid.

Black interiors suit carbon nicely along with silver/metal trim but wood works really nicely aswell.

It's like an unwritten rule, I swear.
