Finally getting around to setting up HTPC in the livingroom

Q6600 Go (O/C to 3.2)
Gigabyte P35 DS3 MB
Silverstone LC17 case
6GB DDr2 Ram
Usual HTPC stuff plus light 1080p gaming.
Just need PSU, Gfx card and cpu cooler to complete build.

Is THIS PSU?:
Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 500W
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-167-CM&tool=3

enough for THIS gfx card?:
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 Superclocked 1024MB
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-160-EA&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1830

Thanks.

Any thoughts on a good low profile cooler for my Q6600?
Was thinking THIS:
Scythe Shuriken Rev.B Quiet Low Profile
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-027-SY&tool=3

This one ok with my processor?

Thanks :)

HD 6850 is slightly better performance wise than the 460, just thought I'd tell you!

£20 cheaper aswell, so could go for a BeQuiet psu (my friends is pretty much silent..)

all good, thanks guys.

Noise wise, the 460 Superclocked reviews as pretty silent which is great for an HTPC, how does the 6850 rate silence wise?

I'm really sensitive to noise from equipment, so a quiet PC is more important that absolute performance!
Still wanna game on it though ;)

ta.

Also, the 600W is only £5 more?
I've got that GPU and really like it, got it to 850Mhz no trouble :) Sound isn't an issue really, seems very quiet.

So it is!
Might as well get the 600w then :)

Good to know the GPU is quiet, I have my old 8800GT in my works computer (upgrade pending..) and its bloody noisy!

There's really nothing in it, if you look at benchmarks some the 6850 wins and some the 460 wins. Also you need to bear in mind the OP is considering the EVGA superclocked which is quite a bit faster than a standard 460 whilst remaining fairly quiet.

Interesting alternatives, thanks.
Need to read up a bit on how quiet the ATi is...

Power supply looks the business.

Id listen to him if i was you. (IMHO)

My 6850 is OC'd to 850/1150, easily with like one click from the catalyst software.

And yeah my friend has the modular 730w bequiet PSU and it's literally whisper quiet. I was amazed when he showed me a few weeks back (We like showing off our latest purchases!)

thanks for all the replies.
the BeQuiet supply is the one to go for - sold!

I think between the GPUs its much of a muchness performance wise by the looks of things?
Its more about noise levels I think as its an HTPC in the livingroom....

From "beejjacobs"
I went from a non-reference (supposedly quiet) 260 to this 460 and this difference is immense in terms of noise

Strong leaning towards the 460, though the Ati IS cheaper..but is it noiser?
