battlefield 3 monthly subscription?

Maybe they plan a Battlefield Elite or this could be in BC3 or BF4 if they get made. I don't see them doing it now for BF3 as I would think we would have to have known about a fee when buying the disc/download.

Kind of depends on the price per months, if it's £3 - £6 maybe, but im not paying £10-£20 a month to play a game i have 3 games a week at most on. It's still really buggy battlelog sucks quite bad and theres some things that need changing.

Well said.

Something is only worth the price you pay if you use it and get the enjoyment from it.

I've only played 25 hours of bf3 so far but I've had a good laugh with friends and loving the experience so it's paid for itself already. Would I pay for a subscription? Hell yes, providing they kept the updates up and introduced new maps etc..

You are a very good teamplayer! You fought your way to the top of the team with your score on Friday XD

I wouldn't mind paying £5 a month as long as EA/DICE promised to make more DLC and to fix the majority of bugs etc.

I imagine most people on these forums, especially those that play every day, will be fine with what will be made available :)

Ultimately it is a load of crap though. If they wanted to do it on a subscription basis they should have done it from the start. Sounds to me like some of my friends who decide not to pay the subscription, as they are happy with the content they have, will not be able to game with people that do pay it. So not only having to pay server rental costs we now are likely going to have to pay a subscription as well? And this is for what is fun, but still ultimately a bug ridden mess?

Release DLC by all accounts but charge for it seperately. This will allow groups of friends to buy which DLC they want and not be forced into buying it all.

The trouble with that is we all know how much EA & DICE's promises are worth...

I can't see this ever being done tbh. They have had the game out for months and months and its still a mess. I have not played the game in weeks as the netcode / hitboxes system is a shambles.

I don't want to roll the dice (no pun intended) on whether or 1 bullet is going to kill the guy stood still in front of me or if it will take a full clip! Or if running over someone with a tank is going to kill him or go straight through him and do no harm. Or blasting someone with a tank shell is going to have any effect or is he going to destroy my tank with a single RPG: in short it's as random as they come.

On the plus side I like the maps and the vehicles and even like Battlelog and all that but the netcode is an abomination. They didnt even fix it for BC2 and they have made zero effort with this game as well.

Does it honestly surprise you? BC2 they had the alternate skins and an atrocious expansion that was a separate launcher. Neither could impact on your enjoyment if you didn't get them. BF3 they already have Return to Karkland so anyone without it has to be wary of servers that run it in the rotation. Won't be long till they make playing the game without all the premium rubbish a lesson in frustration.

This is EA noticing how many mugs there are out there willing to pay for Activisions 'Elite' service and trying to jump on the bandwagon. Its amazing how many people are already fumbling for their credit cards so I guess EA have you right where they want you, bending over. The sad part is people are saying it'll be incentive to fix the bugs... sorry shouldn't they be doing that anyway?

load of bull, even if they did offer a subscription for DLC you would still be able to buy it without a subscription. Anyway the game still has many issues and features missing that should be in as standard for PC, they got a cheek even offering a subscription for it the way it was rushed to market to beat MW3. Patch the game up to the standard on PC then start talking subscriptions.

for them to even try and justify even a £5 a month subscription they are going to have to add at least:

new weekly map for multiplayer
monthly "episode" content to single player (at least 2 hours worth of game on the easiest difficulty)
AND BOTS!!!!! i want bots!!! option to have AI filling the gaps of missing people should have been in from the start!!!

but you know it would just be pay £5 a month to get a free player skin every month and a new map if your lucky

Can anyone copy and paste the jist of it here?

Massive BF fan but I'm at work and the site is blocked to view from the OP's link :(

John Riccitiello is the CEO of publisher Eletronic Arts. His job is to make the company as profitable as possible and make you look ever on the horizon and over the competition. On an investor conference could Riccitiello not resist a word of praise: "When I see what we do and what our competitors, there are a few examples of what I think is the best work in this industry, I give a compliment to one of our competitors. it made up a subscription service to a first-person shooter has to implement. I think that is the best in the genre. "

What they mean is, without doubt, Activision Blizzard and the online service for the Elite Call of Duty games. Riccitiello continues that EA did with FIFA Ultimate Team itself an important step in the online space. The EA boss added: "The reason for this fast-growing revenues for us lies in the online environment so that we identify the best practice for the product and implement it, and there will be many more in the future, including an announcement. alluded to Peter just has. "

Thus Riccitiello said EA Vice President of Investor Relations Peter Ausnit, who shortly before said . "We have to develop plans for all major brands is a kind of game service that provides a continuous flow of downloadable content next week, we are already on a event in New York to make some announcements regarding Battefield. "

That Battlefield 3 DLC more than just back to Karkand obtained was virtually certain. Just like Electronic Arts will distribute these DLCs is still completely unknown. Possibly, yes EA takes the prestigious competition as a model and has a similar platform as elite in store. Maybe playing Riccitiello and Ausnit only important that it spread for Battlefield 3 on the year 2012 will be some DLC. No later than next week we'll know more.

Doesn't this go against trade descriptions act?

I bought this game, nowhere did it say "additional recurring fees may apply" (maybe it does on the box), it must surely go against trade descriptions to then add a subscription?

I'd guess if they do this it will be for content not necessary to play the game, just extra maps and so on. Similar to the Call of Duty Elite service. It would just ruffle too many feathers adding a sub to play the base game.
