After playing BF3 for about 30 mins.

Why is my CPU FAN always at 100%?

Why is TMPIN1 so high?

Should I be worried?

sounds wierd to me, maybe the temp probe is broken, or the software is wrong - check with another tool :)

That temp also happens to my asus P8Z68-V LX mobo.
I assume it is the temp of the MOSFET/VRM, mine does not have a heatsink at it is really very hot to touch.

What is the MOSFET/VRM?

Just played NBA 2K11 for an hour....the TMPIN1 reading was at 110 degrees celsius.
TMPIN0 was 55
TMPIN2 was 39.

CPU was 63

GTX580 was 53.

What is causing the high temperatures?

Here's an update, I just received another Asus board, which is for my third build for my nephew, P8H67-M Pro. This mobo has a VRM heatsink, and small (smaller than the Z68 series) Chipset heatsink. The CPUTIN (VRM) temp is 84 degrees celcius at idle, and the AUXTIN (chipset) temp is 91 degrees at idle. I'll return this mobo and get the Asus P8Z68-V LX instead.

Thanks for the reply.

I've figured out that the high TMPIN1 temperature is the southbridge/PCH on the motherboard. The heatsink for the southbridge is almost completely covered by the gtx580 meaning hot air is being blown on to it, causing the high temps. I have a spare pci-e slot that the 580 can fit which won't cover the PCH/Southbridge heatsink.

Will I have any problems if I use this slot for the GTX580 instead?

On my other motherboard, the the first pci-e slot runs at 16x, while the next pci-e slot runs at 8x. I don't know if it applies to your mobo and if it really makes a noticeable difference. You'll be better off starting a new thread, or searching for similar questions.
