Stood at the bar, I get asked what I do for a living by a 40-50 year old chap.

Being friendly I tell him I'm a science technician and deal with a bit of nuclear science and environmental science.

He then goes on about how against nuclear he is (fair enough). Then starts talking about super computers.

He brings over an RFID chip and tells me it's a super computer and is connected up to satellites.

How he was refused from taking an IT course because he's so intelligent he'd blow up the computers.

He said he had a load of computers he'd designed. I asked him what the most powerful computer he had was (struggled to answer).

I asked him what kind of processor he had in this powerful computer. He tells me it has an IBM. I dig a little deeper. He then tells me it's run by satellites.

He then tells me how the banking system is so vulnerable and that it can be hacked with a ZX Spectrum. I ask him if they even have internet capability and he tells me he had a 'robotic' modem.

I ask him if it can walk around the room. To which he replies "No! You control it with a glove and move your hand".

Magick. Was this you? Or just a friend?

Was he funny crazy or terrifying crazy?

When I started trying to make him stumble I got a bit of a terrifying crazy feel. Like he might flip when he realises he can't name a brand of processor.

Apparently by not eating meat, and just eating barley and other hippy things, he has 10 times the strength of an average man.

Don't get him angry at you. He might go alpha and hit you with a bar stool before going home to mummy.

I think the moral of the story here is, when at a bar, do not talk to guys that you dont know, instead ignore him and go talk to girls instead.

What do you do exactly, if you don't mind my asking.

It's at a college so fairly basic stuff. Mainly preparing practical work for those subjects. I'll occasionally need to sign out radioactive sources but it's all fairly safe low level stuff. I'd like to move into the industry eventually (have a placement set up thanks to a few contacts that I work with). Should start a nuclear degree in sep/oc, either funded by my employer, or hopefully placement site.

He's probably posting on AVForums right now about the amazingly gullible fellow he met at a bar last night who even believed the Bank of England could be hacked by a ZX Speccy!
