Lian Li PC-60FNWB - Thinking about buying one.

I won one on another forum last year. It's not a bad case. Cable management is ok but nothing special. Being one of Lian Li's cheaper cases it is missing a lot of features that the other cases have such as:-

No clamp for the psu. Instead you have to screw it in.

No tooless pci slots. The holes are all there for the workings though.

Only a single intake and single exhaust fan. Could really do with a roof fan.

No dust filter for the psu.

I would'nt have bought one as there are better cases available for the money. I only have it because i won it. Personally i think Lian Li cases are way overated. I also have a PC-P50B and i think that's rubbish.

Thanx for the info :)

Im not fussed about the psu clamp, would rather screw it in. tooless pci slots would have been great but then again its no biggy. The system going in it will not need loads of fans anyway so the two that are included will do the job. Just realised the fan controller I bought recently is now going to be overkill lol.

It was one of those purchases done on a whim, I was trying to find a decent second hand pc-65 and then stumbled accross pc-60fnwb for a reasonable price. Im a bit of lian-li fanboy, if thats bad or good lol.

I have a pc 7fnw
I spent a lot of time looking at reviews for cases etc ...
I moved up from a antec p150 (silent type of case yet small; too small for newish gpus) and doing stuff in your system.

I had a list of criteria I was looking for:
- mid size
- stylish/sleek/wife approving lol
- light - my antec one even thou it was small still felt like it weighed a ton with everything in it.
- could fit a decent sized gpu 1 or 2
- decent cooling in the case
- relatively quite

after having the case for 5 months I can say this:
- mine didnt come with a usb 3 connection; wish it did - some do and some dont I ordered the same case for my mom and her's did. I think the wb should come with one thou.
- Its actually a pretty nice size; not too big and not too small. enough space for a nice sized gpu and enough room for cables etc ... actually like the blue led fan; didnt think I would. And I heard they are rated for less noise - btw I couldnt get my voltage mode to work to make the fan spin slower but noise isnt too bad.
- it is fairly light and makes moving it much easier then my p150
- part of me wanted a 9f case (one with 2 fans) - while the 7f has the one 140 fan and the hd's get enough cooling I dont think the rest of the case gets its fair share; meaning your gpu may need some more. But then again the space for a large gpu isnt there because the HD cage is different in the 9f case. So trade off.
- sort of wished I went for the wb (black interior) but I was on a budget and it was going to be like 30 pounds more for the black interior.

like I mentioned earlier I was doing a lot of reseach on cases and my top picks were the 7fn 9f and the corsair 650d - the 650d was a bit more then the lian li but had some other things that looked quite interesting ...
like a harddrive plug in, better cable management, more room to put things into; a bit better fans.
But the case was larger, heavier, and IMO didnt look as nice as the lian li.

I do prefer the window much better on the lian li (sleek looking).

One thing to note is I dont know if you can get a 9f with a window or you might need to buy it seperately; one might have to get the 8 and then that costs a bit more.

So overall I am happy with my choice although part of me still wants two front fans but atm cooling isnt a issue so Im not that worried about it.
Case is much easier to work with then my p150 (geez that thing was tiny). My cable management is a bit sloppy but you can see its insides here ...
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=21154190&postcount=109

as you can see about the perfect amount of room to play around in yet not too big as to take up space etc ... btw those hd bays can go either way in facing ...
right now I am not using any optical drives so just a ssd sitting in the space.

So would I buy this case again ... errr ya but I may want to go with the 9f or 8 for the double fan its just that doesnt leave much room for gpus ... not a big thing thou ... I tend to pick gpus with already good cooling and lower heat output anyways ...

Ok lets reflect on my purchase... :p

Cracked open the box and pulled her out, hit by how light it is. Ok not bad but then I notice how thin the metal is compared to my old pc65's, what did they do? roll the ally thiner to make it stretch further lol?

Then surprise number 2... the power button looks like it was hammered into the panel and will not sit flat :( arrghh im now chasing lian-li about this, if I cant get that sorted I know a competitor who sells all the wiring and switches (I shouldnt have to be doing that! Lian li are supposed to mean quality)

So far the verdict is out! I can see this as the last lian-li purchase, bit gutted as I have always loved these cases

ya I admit this case is a bit less noise dampening then my antec p150. Always liked quiter computer stuff -

Still not bad thou - take a pic once you get things rolling.

I will :)

Just I cannot stop thinking about what to buy next for it... this started out as a pure, simple rebuild for the missus and now I have gone a bit mad and bought:

Scythe Kaza Master Ace
LG Bluray dvd writer
Tooless pci thingy (lian-li)
New power button kit (lian-li)
Lian-li stealth dvd bezel

Also toying with the idea of buying a different top panel, modding the front panel slightly and adding some rubber trim onto the motherboard tray where the access holes are. I also have 5 x samsung hd501lj's here spread accross 3 different machines and I keep thinking about pulling them together for this new build. Mad yes but it will look good :)

Have you seen how much the top panels are? It's £25 for one with a cut-out for a 120mm fan and the taller one with the cut-outs for twin 140mm fans is £49!! You don't even get the fans!!

The tooless pci bracket is a more reasonable £13 but rather than spend all this money on a budget case (for Lian Li) maybe you should have got a different one with all the stuff you now want.

I know m8... The initial cost was around £70 with free delivery so I thought it was ok. I did much the same with some pc60's. One was new and the other two were second hand. One of them was in a right state but I managed to restore it pretty good. After doing all that I couldve just bought a pc7 lol.

A top panel for the case i have is rarer than hens teeth. To get one pre cut for a rad from lian li means importing it. Even then they only do a dual fan model, though the case can easily accomodate a triple. Would be a lot cheaper to get it done by an aftermarket modding service in the uk.

Got the tooless bracket in the post this morning. I am not happy at all! The build quality is pants. Every single screw that is fitted looks as if they used an undersized philips screwdriver so every screw is rounded out badly! It looks like a pile of dog turd :(

sounds like its not turning out good for you - if you want take some pics so we can see what you are talking about

That's a shame, however thanks for the warning, as I was considering getting this! xD

I have setup a rma on it and will see how it pans out! I seem to go into these phases every now and then when everything I do turns out bad :(

Somebody told me to return the case. I can do but then I will be out of pocket with the postage and the refund as I will not get the whole amount back. I often wonder what is the point or did I do something bad involving karma? lol I dont know anyway I will get some piccys done in a bit after work.
I managed to find some pictures via a google search that show these screws should not be in such a state, yes you can say im being anal about it but everytime I go near that case with that adaptor in, I will see the mess its in and feel a bit cheated! Somebody working at Lian Li has forgotten how to put things together imho.

EDIT: Forgot to add that there is a few flaws on this case that I did not notice until I got the case out into some strong light. Little flaws that should not be there! The flaws have been touched in with black pen or paint? one on the front panel, one on the top and some deep fingerprints inside that are not mine! I should really send this thing back but its the hassle involved :(
