Hello,

Our little mtb club has a motto which is "Pain is Glory" now I have used google to convert this to latin and it comes up with "Dolor Est Gloria". So is their anyone out their good at Latin that can confirm this is correct.

Many Thanks
Simon

The missus is a classics graduate, so I've sent her a text. Might be a couple of hours before she actually reads it though, as she's currently teaching some unfortunate student Tacitus.

The only latin I know is 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipiscing elit.'

I've typed it so many damn times it's lost all meaning :(

I studied Latin back in the days and I think what you found is correct, but if I'm not mistaken I think the verb should come at the end (though both are fine I think). So: "Dolor gloria est". But don't take my word for it... Maybe "gloria" should be "gloriam" to be an accusative, but if I remember correctly it is a simple nominative for the verb "esse" (to be) so it should be fine as it is. Anyway, this brings back baaaad memories...

I did classics and latin at school and it looks fine to me. Let's face it, nobody will know the difference anyway, and if they do they will have to be bigger geeks than us :)

It looks fine to me, from what I can remember.

Pretty much the only Latin I know is

Caecilius est in horto

No he's not! :D
