The Asrock boards like Extreme4 Gen3 suggested by shadow_boxer are really rather nice and cheaper than the Maximus 4 P67. Another good board is the msi z68-gd65-g3.

as for a cooler, the h70 and h80 do bring in good performance numbers, but they are both expensive and loud coolers. instead of going for a captive liquid cooler i would suggest a large tower cooler - these are generally the same price (or often cheaper), provide as good or better cooling and are much quieter. have a look of this review of the Corsair H70 compared directly to the Thermalright Silver Arrow. Other good tower coolers are the Thermalright Archon, noctua nh-d14 and phanteks ph-tc14pe.

Here is a review of the H80 compared to the thermalright archon.
 
Love the look of the Silver Arrow and its always been on my radar, but after having the TRUE 120 Extreme bend my old Abit mobo out of shape, I've been reluctant to use a heavy cooler since, and the H70 has been the answer to that, I've just bagged a brand new Antec 920 (on Stulid's advice, so its his fault if its pants) for £61 delivered :)

Thanks cmndr_andi, I'll have a look at those mobos in a minute, and thanks for the advice on the coolers, but as mentioned (posted at the same time as you did, so didn't see your post in time) I have a concern over the heavy tower coolers.
