The 2011 Orwellian Prize for Journalistic Misrepresentation :D

The prize is given for an article in an English-language national newspaper that achieves an unusually high level of inaccuracy. Only articles that describe a piece of published scientific research are eligible.

It's no surprise really, but I feel this is something that should be noted.

How can such well selling papers get away with this kind of article? I'm not in favour of telling people what they can and can't write about, but the artcle was nothing but blatant lies and propaganda...

I'm opposed to people using drugs on principle, but I'm more opposed to a national newspaper being allowed to pass off garbage as facts. Makes me glad I dont read the Daily Fail.

I was coming in here with a "you've got to be ***ting me" attitude..

However I see the award is well deserved haha. Suck on that!

what principle?

And does this principle extend to alcohol?

The principle that its addictive, it kills you and it has no positive uses?

I feel the same way about smoking as well. Alcohol is a bit of a grey area as its far easier to drink socially/sparingly with no long term consequences. But obviously I'm opposed to alcohol abuse as well.

And yes I'm aware nobody here is influenced by my opinion in any way, shape or form. Doesnt stop me having the opinion though.

What's this in relation to? You said 'drugs', tefal mentioned alcohol... your statement doesn't really apply to either.

I feel the same way about smoking as well.

So you weren't on about smoking? Because I'd agree with you there...

Not all drugs are addictive and not all have negative health benefits if abused, unlike alcohol.
