Is 3.5Mb the Best Speed I Can Get?

200 or 2000Kbps.....

Yep run Routerstats for 24hrs and see what it picks up.

For info i had a noise spike problem a few years back that i never really solved...tried everything (filters, routers, ADSL cables etc and turning off everything but the router in the house) and had BT out a few times. A Lift and shift in the exchange improved it slightly but it didnt like anything much less than 9/10dB noise margin (generally) or else it would drop.
To cut a long story short i had Zen reset the target noise margin from a target of 15dB (it had crept up but i tweaked it lower with the DG834GT) back the the default of 6dB. 2-3 weeks later and it had crept back up to 15dB because of the noise spikes.
Since mid Jan i have been able to get on TalkTalk LLU (first LLU in the exchange and only option to BT IPStream products) and i now havent seen any noise spikes and i've been synced for 11 days solid. The only thing thats changed is the kit at the exchange i'm connected to, must be the old crappy BT kit!!!

200Kbps from what the Netgear was synced at before I upgraded the firmware, 2000Kbps more than the sync speed on the SpeedTouch.

I am running RouterStats now so I'll update the thread tomorrow.

In just under an hour (50 minutes) I have clocked up 18 CRC errors and 16 errored seconds. Is that considered okay taking into account the 40dB attentuation?

Yep thats ok, we are at a busy (noise wise) point of the day so fine. Mine pushes more than that and seems fine (although mine dips to 3dB during the night).

Reconnecting during the daytime should push your sync higher btw.

same, went to BE on LLu and went from 2 meg to nearly 5meg. the BT equipment is poor and they fob you off for years as they wont investigate or spend the money on fixing issues.

Here's a RouterStats plot for last night:

By the way, does anybody have any ideas as to what that blip could be? I have looked around my house but nothing seemed to come on at the time. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough?

Dunno what the blip is, keep monitoring. Ip profile if low previously should change quite quickly if now synced much higher, within 24 hours I'd say. Run the bt speedtester as it tells you your profile if your isp doesn't tell you.

You could do, mid day is better but now is better than 8pm at night like your previous sync!

Try it, from your graph it doesnt look like you have a massive dB swing daylight compared to night time.
Actually 7616 might be as fast as you can sync as sometimes on Interleaved its limited to that, mine did sync at 8128 on interleaved but it doesnt always.
