House M.D cancelled:

It would be far better to have them stop and say "Enough is enough" before it turns rubbish. Hell, look at 24. They should have stopped that years before they did.
 
Cuddy won't. She left cause she wouldn't take a pay cut. Thirteen is confirmed to be coming back for it.
 
Once the Cuddy things was finished midway through season 7, they seem to ran out of things to do. Season 8 is awful although the first episode was nice. The 2 new doctors are rubbish and Chase/Taub seem to just appear depressed.

I think it went downhill when they got rid of Chase and Cameron and introduced 13, Taub and Kutner. They were nowhere near as good as the other cast and I found it very hard to care about their characters at all.

Maybe they switched them out because the writers couldn't think of anything interesting to do with them anymore?
 
They also couldn't think of anything interesting to do with the new characters it would seem, as rating started to fall around that time.

Had a great run by any standards, 177 episodes is a lot.
The episodes are still entertaining, and still put out a couple of really good episodes every year. I like that they haven't pussified House's character despite all this time + Always look forward to the House/Wilson bits, who watches it for the medical cases ? :P

24 was always on and off though. Season 3 wasn't great and 5 was amazing but 6 wasn't as good, 7 was ok and 8 was pretty good.
 
Its been well known that Series 8 was going to be the last. I really enjoy watching it as often its very clever and always well written and acted (Unsquint your eyes!!! :D:D:D) I have a feeling that they are going to do the shock ending though and leave it on a OMG ending...

I found series 7 to be quite shark jumpy... With Olivia Wilde leaving and the introduction of the young doctor, with House and Cuddy finally getting it on... It wasn't a full on shark jump, but it was definitely in that territory. The relationship with Cuddy... That's the sort of thing that you dangle as a means to maintain tension, but to actually make good on it? That's a bit more of a stretch, and maybe it was well enough done, and maybe it made sense technically in the story, but it still suggests that they're running short of ideas, or getting a bit desperate for new things to do.

Very true. It's a shame they couldn't have paced themselves and had maybe 4 brilliant series rather than 4 very good ones and 4 very patchy ones.
