Just upgraded to this motherboard, installed all the components and now I get a bsod on boot up just after the first windows screen, it flashes so quick i don't get time to see the error message

Components are as follows

I5-2500k
P8z68-v gen3
Corsair 8gb ddr3 1600mhz
Asus gtx 560ti
Samsung f1 320gb 7200rpm
Corsair 750w psu

All components are from the old setup I had apart from the psi but
I don't see why that would cause it.
Anyone got any thoughts? Thanks

Did you do a fresh install of Windows after you changed motherboards? It's always recommended to do this to avoid motherboard driver conflicts.

no i didnt, i guess i could try, but i didnt want to go down that route because of data backup etc, i dont currently have a spare hdd to put everything on. i also used an upgrade disc for windows 7 from vista but i dont have vista anymore. if i were to do this, would the upgrade disc be enough? and could i do it but also keep personal files etc?

Not only is it recommended to do a fresh install with a new motherboard, but sometimes it's forced upon you because windows wont even boot - just like now.

okay ill ask in there, and maybe i will try reinstalling if i can use the upgrade disc, if reinstalling fails, what next? thanks for all your help people, much appreciated

shouldnt really need to reinstall os if its win7 imo,it will find/install needed drivers for you,ive switched same hdd/os from 3 different mb's with no issues

most probably your ram in running 8gb,i would bump up your vccio voltage to 1.15v and set dram voltage to 1.5v and save/exit and try booting up

right, okay could i try and run one stick of ram and see if it boots to find out if that narrows it down to ram?

yeah try it,did you ever get to windows? or just gets to boot screen?if so try putting in windows dvd and do a start up repair it might fix the boot up for you

okay, i will try it tomorrow and come back to here with the results. Before i was getting to the first windows loading screen where the 4 windows pan in etc, it would hang on that for a while and then bsod instantly and restart. The bsod was a flash, 0.5 second and then restart. I did run it in repair mode as it asked me if i wanted to do this after the bsod but it wasnt the one from the disc. But that did not work, so i will try the one from the disc if i have no luck

what mb did you test with before and it booted fine? you might need a clean install but ive had no issues coming from x58 to z68 with same os on hdd,but might be your last resort i would try the other things first

Have you tried starting up in safe mode ?
i did try it, still no avail

im using an msi p67a-g45 b3 and had no problems whatsoever. when i first installed this one i never needed to reinstall windows so it baffled me abit when i thought i had to.

you shouldnt need to coming from p67 imo,win7 will sort drivers out for you once booted into windows, using latest mb bios for z68? update with usb stick and flash tool on asus website

check to see your set to ide or ahci mode, whatever mode you used on p67 as it will reboot if not correct

okay will have a look to make sure all the settings are the same when i swap the boards back tomorrow..i spent 2 hours trying to sort it tonight and no progress...nothing is ever easy eh?

I've tried everything in here apart from the reinstall as I can't do it with the upgrade disc.. And no luck, still getting a bsod everytime. Is it a case of RMA?:(

Good news, managed to sort the problem :) after 1 last try to get it working I changed it to IDE again and it's now booting, I also removed a disc from the cd drive that I didn't realise was in there lol..ohwell all done and sorted, im now happy :)
