Hi,

ORIGINAL POST: My sister just told me that she dropped her Galaxy S2 last night in bath.
She wiped it and removed battery for all night.
She turned it on now, and only red screen appears.
It's about 6 months old, Tesco!
Can you advise what she can do? (use warranty, etc.)

UPDATE : PLEASE SEE LAST MESSAGE AND PICTURE

Thank You.

Have you tried drying it out properly? Last night, in that case you haven't. Make sure it stays turned off and remove battery if you can. Place in bag with rice and leave for a few days.

If you have, then only thing you can do (if you haven't got insurance) is send it of to a repair place and get them to diagnose the problem and give you a price for a fix.

I have to ask, what was she doing with her phone in the backroom, let alone using it over a full bath? fail!

Probably by turning it on while still not dry, it has killed it. Usually if its left for a few days first it will probably work. Chances are its dead now though!

I dropped my Desire HD in the toilet while ****ed on New Years (after flushing!), in my drunkeness I also managed to lose the battery cover after taking the battery out meaning I couldn't turn the phone on. When my replacement arrived about a week later the phone worked perfectly, in fact if anything the battery life has increased 20-30%.

Probably for the best I lost my battery cover as not turning the phone on for a week most likely saved it.

Thank You for all your advices!

I put it in rise and won't turn it on for couple days!
Hopefully it is not dead, I will report in here In couple of days.

You might be OK, I dropped my other half's HTC Desire in a drain outside our house and I could see the buttons lit up underwater. Tried to get it out but couldn't and I'd just come out of hospital so couldn't get down there. Two days later I emptied the drain to get the SD card out of the phone to retrieve pictures, the phone screen looked like a lava lamp it was so waterlogged with dirty boggy water. Took the SD card out, rinsed the phone under clean water for a while then dried it in the hot sun for a couple of days. It only blimmin' still worked!! :)

I still have it now, you can see dried water marks on the inside of the screen.

If it will still boot and but with limited functionality you might be able to trade it in, missus recently smashed the screen on her GS and a phone company gave her £120 for it and a new phone with a 18month contract although she still had a year of the contract remaining!

Update: More than One week past, switched on GS2 and nothing happened.

As I have GS2 myself, I installed charged battery from my GS2, tried to switch on sister's GS2 it did not switch on, when I plug charger this sign appears:

Warranty, seriously? In what way is being stupid and dropping your phone in water going to be covered by the warranty?!

/facepalm

From what I can tell, it's knackered. New phone time for you.

^^ She already bought New Galaxy S2 in white LoL and bought insurance, so in one month going to claim.

edit: nvm won't point out the problem, but i suspect your claim will be rejected.
