Release: Q1 2012

Focus Home Interactive is proud to unveil Wargame: European Escalation, the new real time strategy game from Eugen Systems, a specialist of the genre and developer of the critically-lauded Act of War: Direct Action, and more recently R.U.S.E.™.

Wargame: European Escalation is built around depth and reflection, the key elements of classic wargames. Above solid foundations, Eugen Systems builds an impressive list of features and enhancements in order to provide a unique and innovative gaming experience to all real-time strategy fans.

Wargame: European Escalation features intense real-time battles, stunning graphics, and the amazing IRISZOOM™ system, which allows a continuous zoom from a global view of the map to the heart of the action. With real strategic gameplay, rich content, integration of EugenNet© and its numerous online services, Wargame: European Escalation will unite all the world’s biggest strategy fans.

Set in the rarely explored period of 1975-1985, Wargame: European Escalation pits NATO (USA and Western Europe) against the Warsaw Pact (Soviet and Eastern European countries) in battles that explore “what could have been.” The specter of nuclear warfare loomed large over the real Cold War, but this catastrophic outcome was the ultimate last resort as everyone knew that the first one to start nuclear hostilities would end up wiped out just the same. Large, armored offensives through Europe would certainly have been the core of this hypothetical war; and this is what the game’s explosive campaign takes you through!

Wargame: European Escalation will be fully unveiled at E3 in June. In the meantime, we invite you to view the premier ingame images of the game, which will be released on PC (retail and digital distribution) in the first quarter of 2012.

Looks very interesting, I was growing up in and around Nato bases in Germany during that period so it will be very interesting to see what they've done with this game.

Also they better have Chieftens in it or I'll be ****** mad

Was going to make a new thread but search brought up this one.

We have a trailer

and some off screen footage from Gamescom

Looking forward to checking it out.

Also the Beta should be starting in October.

Wow that looks impressive in the video.

Love how far it zooms in and how far you can get out. Looks like a proper tactical command map :)

Bipity bump.. pre-order on Steam @ £29.99. 23rd Feb.

Looks like it could be EPIC but it all depends on how (if?) you acquire units etc. or you just play out scenarios.

I'm hoping this could be a/has a mode that does C&C "build your own army" type game.

Only saw this on Steam earlier on.

I'll keep an eye on it for now but I don't think I will rush out to buy it.

I've been keeping a interested eye on this title for a few months now. I love the period the games set in, it's just a question of 'how' it plays.

I won't preorder though. I'll let others get their fingers burnt on this one.

Anyone preordered and so playing the MP Beta - lets have some impressions, so tempted - it did look similar to World in Conflict but with more unit types

Couldn't resist. For those interested the beta download is 3.5gb, will hopefully post some impressions in the next few days. If anyone else gets it I have a mumble server that can be used to learn on.

That video makes this look VERY tempting. Interested to hear your opinions on it once you've wrangled the beta for a while!

No problem, I played World in Conflict before LOL and now play LOL way too much. I am expecting myself to be a poor to average player (if anyone else fancies a sparring player :) ) So take my impressions with that in mind. Looking forward to trying it out though
