Ordered Samsung S24A350H in the end after reading review of S27A350H on PCM2's website:cool:

Hopefully this monitor will turn out to be a very nice one for the performance/price :)

Good choice. It also behaves similarly to the 27 inch version so you should be able to follow the calibration 'tips' with contrast and gamma to get good results.

Yeah and if I have further calibration queries, I will post back in this thread ;)

Plus this monitor will go nicely with my HAF 922 case as it has red led fan

Received the monitor today and well pleased with the monitor:). Looks way more stylish and elegant than seen in pics.

I think it has beautiful light sleak design and the glossy outer surface protrude black-red mix colour. Very cool

However just one thing: how do I remove the screen panel from the stand connector? I have tried to remove the panel by placing one hand onto the oval stand and forcing it down and the other hand for lifting the screen panel. However panel seems to be etched onto stand connector and won't come off.

Yeah I always find monitors look different 'in the flesh'. Which bit specifically are you trying to remove? I don't think you can remove the bit attached to the monitor - it is a fixed stand design and can't be removed. Not sure why you'd want to remove that as you can't VESA mount it anyway? Or do you mean something further down towards the stand base? As you can probably tell it's been a while since I've used this one and I forget how it goes together and comes apart. :D

Basically the whole monitor comes in three separate physical parts:

1) Oval base
2) Stand connector
3) Flat panel screen itself

(S24A350H video 1:46 to 2:40)

The stand connector is attached to the oval base via a screw at the bottom of the base.
Then flat panel screen is inserted into the stand connector via it's fixed mounting part. It's kinda like with BX2450. You could just insert the screen into the base and then remove it by applying gentle uplifting force onto the panel.

However with S24A350H, the panel screen isn't coming out of the stand connector unless I may have to unscrew the screw at the bottom of the base.

Ah yes now I remember. It will just come out - it just needs a fair bit of force. I would recommend removing the base first as it will make it easier to pull the connector off. I know it is a bit disconcerting having to yank a bit of plastic out from another bit of plastic like that on a new monitor :p.

i got the 22" version of this monitor as I wanted the extra DPI. It's very hazy due to the aggressive anti-glare coating but pretty common place these days and liveable.

Picture is pretty bright and vibrant so plenty to do with it in terms of customisation. It must be given even a basic calibration, the gamma curve is really poor, I had to offset it quite a bit to get 2.2.

Blue's look a bit purple, so when doing a calibration with your eyes - watch out for the red tint and try and phase it out - but if you go too far the blue's will end end up overly vibrant.

The 350H Samsung range definitely has potential and is a great budget/standard monitor. Would be interesting to run a professional calibration across one.

EDIT: I was unfortunate to receive two duff units (one was a replacement for the first) which had faint grey lines in the middle and white dots around the bottom of the screen. I have seen other ones in shops without this issue but same colours and brightness. So be careful of Samsung's quality control as it's not all it's made out to be. Samsung's RMA is good though (2 year UK collect and return) and i'm currently waiting for my third unit to come through...

This is exactly what it required!! :D

I had to apply a little bit of extra pulling force on the connector for it to come out of monitor screen, thus separating monitor screen from rest of setup.:D

I was actually scared of breaking my brand new monitor

The make of this monitor is absolute quality.

(Stares at the monitor with affection \o/)

Yeah I just read the warranty card and it said that samsung provides 2 years warranty for this monitor. I was expecting only 1 year though.

I must say gaming on this monitor is a pleasure now especially Battlefield 3. The Caspian Border just looks beautiful.

The screen is very nice and bright and everything is crystal clear and sharp. :)

Another user reporting in, bought it yesterday. (Samsung has biased me after years with the 226BW) Looking forward to testing it out, any resources and/or tips for the settings and calibration ?

Yeah here is a review of S27A350H which is basically 27" version of monitor on PCM2's website:

There is calibation section and I did make use of it along with few other settings which I tweaked according to my taste:)
