Seeing as brink has been out a while all the problems should have been ironed out.....

So do people still play it ?

Does it live up to its team based gameplay ?

And peoples thoughts on the parkour system?

I tried the free weekend and thought it was absolute rubbish, I refused to pay the £3.74 asking price. Graphically it is way out of date, which would be acceptable if the gameplay was any good, but to me it just seemed like a really bad version of UT3 (insert earlier game in the series to suit your preference as applicable)..

I also played it on the free weekend a while back for an hour or so with a few mates and thought it was complete pants. So in my opinion not worth buying and not worth playing any further. Can't really be any more contructive than that as it's been too long and the game was too foregttable.

It had some nice ideas, but it was boring, dull and poorly executed, even with mates. I couldn't be asked to spend £3.74 on it then, so I wouldn't now either.

Problem with Brink was certain people (in executive positions) came up with some really great sounding features but they just don't work ingame in reality either clutter or getting in the way of the gameplay or slowing it down, etc. unfortunatly they are too convinced of the brilliance of their own ideas to accept the technical realities - something some of the developers fought really hard to counter with ETQW and part of the reason some of them left for companies like endrant and fireteam. I'm probably not explaining it too well tho.

Didn't think it was too bad a game, would have got my moneys worth from it were it not for the ABYSMAL performance.

I mean its shocking, I couldn't get smooth fps with a quad core intel and a 6870.

I thought the freerunning element was well done, much better than other movement systems in other fps games *cough RO2 cough*.

I played it during the free weekend and my first time experience was quite an enjoyable one. I decided to put in on the back burner for when it was in a sale, though I haven't picked it up as yet. One thing I will say is that I found the movement very clunky, it was as if my character was walking / running through a boggy marshland. Otherwise than that, I thought it was pretty good. However, I'm seldom tempted by multiplayer games these days, hence why its only a consideration for when on offer.

Actually this thread just reminded me I can free 5.8GB disk space by deleting the files out of /common.

Am I just being thick or does Steam really not have some sort of built in option for clearing out trial games that you haven't bought after the trial expires (i.e. no longer listed in games list)?

Regret paying ful price for it at release and am still angry about the bugs which weren't ironed out until people had given up on it. I had an issue where I couldn't play for more than a few minutes without it crashing to desktop. I remember it being pulled from Steam quite early on due to it being broken. Companies shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

ET and ETQW are some of my favorite games ever but I will think very carefully before ever giving Splash Damage another penny.

Could possibly be a nice game if there was actually a community.

Crap, massively regret buying it at release.

This. Potential that was never realised. Too many terrible design decisions and horrible maps that were always massively biased towards one team.

As for it being out for a while... I suspect most people haven't played it since not long after release so their opinions won't be changing. I certainly have no desire to reinstall it.

I'm assuming it's so you don't have to re-download the content if you decide to purchase a game after playing the demo - though demo content management would be nice :)
