Burn smell

Sometimes it takes a while to burn off the newness.

Depends what kind of burn smell you're talking about, some things on fire smell or just a 'hot' smell?

not really tbh. burn off the neweness?? never experienced that.

did you forget some plastic film that may have melted? otherwise it's not an encouraging sign

Burning smell from the PSU usually means its going to fail soon. Try a different power supply and see if it's any more fragrant.

Its like a smell when you get from new TV its hard to put it. PC is performing great no problems at all. Just this smell its not very bad smell.

When I say burning smell, I dont mean it like smoke fire smell. Its hard for me to explain this lol

Think i know what you mean, i think all PSUs smell like they've been through a rough stress test or something. However it shouldnt be that strong you're able to sniff it when you walk into a room.

Corsair? Yet they're the most reliable no?

Which model was it?

It was a TX650 (V1 I believe now as newer models are out). Infact the replacement one blew aswell so went through two of them in like 5 months. When the second one went I thought it might be some other factor but the Antec I ahve put in since has been rock solid with all the same variables the corsair had.

Having said that I think I was just unlucky. All things manufactured allow a percentage of failiure.

The burn smell has gone from buy my PC, its when I walk into the room I get it am sure its only new hardware smell thingy lol

I hope

I ahve never had this on any pc I have owned/built. As above the last one that started smelling blew. I personally woudl not risk it and check it out or RMA it.

When I go by PC the smell has gone a lot its just in the room i can still smell it. Am going to take the chance with corsair the PC is performing really well. Am sure its only new hardware smell.

Nothing to do with temps. All about the stability of the PSU.

It is of course your choice but I know I could never afford to gamble my entire pc in the blind hope it won't be wiped out by my psu for the sake of testing it/RMA

looks fine to me,i agree with it being new,it will smell abit, once all the coatings/varnish ect has burnt off it wont smell
