AMD HD7770 PR Stunt ?

@ Martini

By Pro-AMD, do you mean anyone that doesn't agree with everything you say?

You spout all this negative stuff at the other place to :rolleyes:

HD 7770 will probably settle at around £99 after it's initial launch hiked prices.

For £99 and rumoured HD 6850 - HD 6870 performance on a better newer, cooler running, better overclocking process isn't bad value at all.

Your so doom and gloom all the time :D

It's not bad at all.
However, that isn't the product the 7770 is going to be on the 15th.
I've only ever been negative about the 7XXX, never before have I been so negative.
Anyway, ignore list you go Boom.

Even if it matches 6850 performance and launches at £110+ it is another AMD failure.

7750 = 6850 @ £80
7770 = 6870 @ £100
7850 = 6950 @ £150
7870 = 6970 @ £200

That is how it should be.

4000 and 5000 were great gens but 6000 and what now looks like 7000 too were/will both quite dissapointing

Wanted single GPU, 7950 > GTX580.
Still negative about it though.
People buy car insurance, complain about price, but it's needed.

Doesn't actually do anything though does it?

Still, at least a survey showed that suspicious miserable people were generally more intelligent than happy people.

Haha no seriously it's true. Apparently miserable people are far more cynical and suspicious of everything, meaning it's harder to put one over them.

Where as it's far easier to rip off some one who is happy because they're more trusting.

I think you've got things backwards. Intelligent people are generally less happy because they are less easily satisfied.

Hehe any comment Martini doesn't like is an 'AMD pro comment', and if you dare to repsond to the guff you go on his ignore list. It does make me laugh :p

Thinking AMD are doing pretty well with the 7 series so far. I can't believe Nvidia still haven't dropped prices on the old 500 cards yet. If you wanna get upset over prices Mankini blame Nvidia for not lowering theirs.

Their is no way AMD could charge £400+ for the 7970's if Nvidia didn't charge so much for the 15 month old GTX 580....

You seem to think that just because someone buys a graphics card that they must praise it every opportunity they get, the 7000 series is over priced, they match or slightly beat 18 month old tech and yet charge the same for it, that's not what has happened in previous generations, at the moment it's looking like AMD are going to release cards with the same performance as last gen for the same or even more money. Where's usually their next gen cards are at similar price points but offer more performance.

The 7770s ideally should be offering 6870 performance for less money to be worthwhile.

that's not what has happened in previous generations

It has happened plenty of times beforehand. An example is in the transition between DX9 and DX10. The 8600GT and 8600GTS and their AMD equivalents were no better than the cards they replaced and were expensive. A few years later,the same thing happened with the constant Nvidia rebrands,ie, 8800GT and 9800GT for example. Then what about the DX10 to DX11 transition?? The HD5770 1GB was more expensive at launch than the EOL HD4870 1GB and HD4890 1GB cards. The GTS450 was no real improvement over the GTS250 and cost more. The slower GT240 replaced the 9600GT. The HD4670 was not an improvement in performance over the HD3850.

Last year and the year before EOL HD5870 1GB,GTX470 and GTX480 cards could be had for £150 to £170 and were far better value for money than the newer cards. There were HD5850 1GB cards for around £100 too. People were recommending these over the newer HD6850 1GB and GTX460 1GB at the time, as these were considered worse value for money since the HD5850 1GB was generally quicker. Even when the HD6850 1GB launched most cards were around £150(a few were on a special very limited launch offer of around £130 to £140) they were generally around £150 for quite a while. HD5850 1GB cards were around the same price at that point IIRC.

The same thing seems happen with many of the newer generations,as older cards which launched at a much higher RRP have dropped in price by the time the newer cards have launched. The same complaining happens each time too. In fact in most cases loads of people know this is going to happen and wait until then to upgrade. You can get a decent bargain at that point and people have been doing this for years.

Seems like it boils down to older generation & better value for money Vs new technology, premium price & same (or worse) performance. Everyone has their own opinions at the end of the day, but I'd like to see better performance for the same price at least from new new generation cards (before older gen prices inevitably drop).
