An interesting opportunity on a potentially epic car

there was a second generation one in town at lunch in great condition, such a pretty car and the twin turbo V8 sounds lovely :D

V8 was a 5th gen based on the S4, 2nd gen was 2.0 or 2.2 normally aspirated iirc, there may have been a special edition that was turbo, Essex I think? But the twin turbo v8 does sound nice indeed :)

It's sounds a bit disappointing IMO, nasty flat plane crank means it just doesn't sound like a V8 should.

It sounds different, but the TVR cerbera AJP8 had a flat plane crank and that also sounded awesome, and had a wicked backfire on overun

Flat plane is also best for ultimate performance :)

Thanks for the advice guys. I had fully expected it to be quite expensive to fix up. After speaking with some of the guys on the Lotus forums I'd be looking at a minimum of £6k to sort the fuel tank, manifold and the respray. That is also including a "C service" (cam belt etc). I am sure however that other things would need doing like clutch and suspension.

As such I just don't think it is viable at £2.5-3k purchase price. If it were less than £1k then maybe. I'm going to see if I can get some concert prices on things just to check the figures but it doesn't look hopeful :(
