LARP vs COSPLAY

Bit obvious really... :p Most of my non-musical mates think it's a bit poncy but again, I don't care.

Camel toes the size of water melons don't sound appealing... Thanks for ruining the mental images I had. :(

lmfao that made me laugh heartily for the first time today :D

With regards to LARP it seems a bit immature to me, I mean most kids stop doing the whole "I'll be superman", "I'll be spiderman" thing long before their teens. I would guess you need to be extremely imaginative to enjoy it.

To be fair, I guess LARP has always interested me, but in a way that goes against the entire idea of it. I've always secretly fantasized about dressing up in medieval costumes with proper swords and running into a massive, real battle with thousands of other people - each of us facing either sudden death or the slight chance of overcoming the enemy for victory.

I'll leave now. :o

Sounds like you are more into the idea of re-enactment.

Both are terrible. Cosplay might be worse because of the responses it generates from lonely mouthbreathers who use it as fap food (see this thread for details) but Larping could edge it because it encourages the damaged to be broken together under the guise of ~ VALID EXPRESSION! ~

The other reason I don't like either is that correlation between cosplayers/larpers and otakus is frighteningly high.

Maybe you're right but the whole 'living out a fantasty pretending to be someone else (who is typically powerful and/or has powers)' thing crosses both sets and is often evident in anime-obsessed lunatics.

I certainly wouldn't knock anyone for wanting to mess about in fancy dress with that young lady tbh...

I'd never heard of LARPing until I saw it on the TV show 'Peep Show' - it wasn't exactly portrayed in a positive light. This thread seems to indicate it is actually somewhat more social and with less mis-fit/socially awkward types than you might expect.

What is wrong with having an imagination and a bit of escapism?

Oh it's not mainstream and cool

At the end of the day - it's evening on Valentines day, we're all posting on a computer forum, given these two facts no one posting in here at the mo has any credibility if they choose to label others as 'sad'.

Get a clue. Please.

One could say the same thing about your forum use. Keyboard warrioring ones way out of an unhappy life.

Edit: Please note the difference between 'one could' and 'one is'.

What are you even talking about? I'm offering my opinion on larping, cosplay and anime and the broken individuals they attract - how is that being a keyboard warrior?

And if the 'one could' / 'one is' distinction was made to add a hint of passive aggressiveness to your nonsense then don't bother, it adds nothing to your argument.
